Match Thread POSTPONED: Everton v Manchester City - Preview only

West Ham had to play on with players out and their manager.

City must of had loads out to seek a postponement.

Sure, we will be healthier for the reschedule but we'd have been playing their academy tonight.

Bit of an exaggeration. Aguero, Sterling, KDB, Fernandinho and Rodri were reportedly fit, to name a few.

We're on the absolute bones of our arses and I expect they'd have taken the chance to play a team capable of picking up a really tricky away win while we're forced to rest what few half decent players we have left at this point.

No, because the game wouldn't have went ahead once City requested the postponement. Refusing the postponement wouldn't have put our players at risk, it'd have simply put pressure on the Premier League to codify the rules.

It'd have been the smart thing to do; the thing winners would do.
Refusing the postponement.

lol lol lol

Premier League : Hi lads, the games off
Everton : We refuse
Premier League : LOL lads, refuse whatever you like, games off
Everton : But we are winners, we refuse
Premier League : ok mate

And every single one could have Covid. Thats the issue. They literally do not know who may have it due to the timings of the cases they have found.
the club says that 2000 fans must have a covid negative test 36 hours before kick off

if any of those 2000 fans could be exposed to covid but have a false negative then what is the point anyway of having fans in stadiums?

if city can field 11 players with a negative test before kick off then surely its the same

You don't have a clue who was fit mate.

Not quite; it'd have forced the Premier League to say exactly why it's been postponed. They'd have to make it a rule.

As it stands, if Everton have one less positive test in the rescheduled fixture, the Premier League could refuse to postpone it.

The Oil Rig have about 10 clubs abroad that they part own , so for a club with that much money they could have got a decent 11 together , i think this gives Guardiola an excuse for a mid winter break

The Premier League said the rise in cases at City "created uncertainty" and that the competition's board "received medical advice that the match should be postponed".

A league statement continued: "The board agreed to rearrange the game as a precaution, and further testing will now take place tomorrow [Tuesday].

"The decision has been taken with the health of players and staff the priority.

"The Premier League continues to have full confidence in its protocols and rules, and the way in which all clubs are implementing them."

They have said why.
