So by that rationale we should go for the managers of the teams who finished ahead of us. None of this is really making sense mate.

Sounds like you want something better but not quite sure what that would look like in reality.

I can give you a list of managers who I would like and I think we could attract if you want. That's not the point.

My point is managers want to manage an established premier league club even if, like in the case of Bolton and Villa, they don't have a great deal of money to spend and the squad's a lot worse than ours.

Hell, Portsmouth were in a terrible mess and still managed to hire a manager who'd managed in a European Cup final. (He was awful admittedly but he wasn't a nobody.) If Moyes goes, there will be plenty of managers who'd want the job in the same way that Villa had no trouble getting their man and Bolton none getting theirs. Or Fulham had getting Martin Jol.

We underestimate how big a draw managing a club like Everton, who are well estabilished in the upper half of the premier league, is.

This bizarre fear of Moyes leaving really gets me, no-one knows what might have happened these past 10 years if Moyes wasn't around yet it's assumed his work is incomparable even miraculous.

Worse still, this promotion of "Everton lite" accepting mostly mind numbing football without a hope of ever winning anything has become so entrenched the notion no-one better than Moyes has either been created on God's green earth or would be willing to come here is ludicrous.

Leave aside the virtually unmatched top flight tenure, trophy winning history and potentially massive support (admittedly dwindling under this regime) the fact it's one of the best paid jobs in world football should be a hint.

This. He's the 11th best paid manager in the world, he's in the most watched league in the world, he has complete control over the club and he can finish 17th and he can go ten years without winning anything without his job being under threat.

Who wouldn't want that job?

The fact is we'd have to take a gamble on someone either working outside England or working in the lower leagues without much prem experience, but we did that with Moyes.

The idea that we wouldn't be able to get anyone decent is ridiculous, we'd just have to look outside the box is all.

moyes won't leave everton... not now anyway and not to tottenham. this press speculation only reveals how little the media know about the ins and outs of the man.

Apparently every manager in the world because they won't get £30 million a season in transfer funds.

We could attract a lot of very good managers if we actually sell Everton to them as being a club worthy of managing. Which is unlikely considering Kenwrongs attempts at the selling the club to a buyer.

Its a great job that most managers should want to take. So they won;t get a lot of net spend per year? They'll just have to use their skills and work a bit harder than any crappy manager who has to rely on a big budget.

Can we not just be glad he's here? Why the constant hypothetical argument about who would be his replacement? We have a pragmatic, relatively effective without being spectacular manager. The problem doesn't really lie with him as far as I can see.

Basically because the moment anyone says Moyes isn't doing the best job possible, you're immediatly asked to name names as to who would do better.

And frankly I'm not glad he's here.

Because why mate? He's not doing the best with the available resources? He's underachieving?
