The difference here is that Tottenham had the 125 million to float and recruit a much larger squad, in order to sell the peripheral players.

It's strange that Levy has been Tottenham chairman since 2001 but only gave his approval for a spending spree in 2008. Would you say that they've got two players for every position now? They've certainly struggled at centreback and up front. If the likes of Assou-Ekottu, Lennon or Parker are injured I'm not so sure that they have the strength in depth to cover it.

Heaven help us if we got some of the candidates the bookies think are possible next managers: Steve Round, Mark Hughes, Coyle, Allardyce, McCoist, McLeish, Billy Davies, Bruce, Walter Smith, Roy Keane, Eriksson, McClaren, Benitez, Souness .. I think I'd slash my wrists at some of these choices.

Did you enjoy bottling virtually every derby including the FA Cup semi-final where they were there for the taking and getting beaten 3-0 by the worst RS team in decades?

The RS had statistically the worst run since relegation in 1954. The only blimp was tonking Everton.

I read yesterday that David Moyes will be appearing on the BBC 'later this week' as a pundit as part of their Euro 2012 coverage. I assume it's tomorrow for the England game? Could it be today for the Italy Croatia game? Or is it Saturday? Does anyone know?

Hell get a big kitty from those sales.

It'll be a step up in terms of funds available and the attraction of the club for players.

I can't see am argument saying spurs isn't a step up right now in the modern era of the league. Theyre a top 4 club

I think they're clinging on to the top 4. Surely Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Villa and even Everton will push them harder next year, whilst the Manchester teams and Arsenal will be getting further away? If they lose one big player such as Modric, they'll need to replace him as well as finding money for a couple of strikers since the only forward they have on the books is Defoe. Won't Vertonghen cost about £10m too? They've done well to pull in more than £6m for Kranjcar, but I still think that they'll need to spread the money they get coming in quite thinly to bolster key positions.

MOYES IS NOT LEAVING!
They may well make an approach but he won't be tempted.

but then which team will he leave for.
united/city/chelsea wont go for him as he hasnt won anything, he wont join the RS, the next team is spurs then us.

spurs is the only club in the premier league above us he can manage that is better then us.

it was always going to be the only real job he would be interested in, the likes of villa/sunderland ETC were never going to interest him as too much work needed to be done there.

If Redknapp had left Spurs to take the England job and they had cash to buy more Van der Vaart's, I'm sure that the job would be almost too good to turn down. As it stands the chairman comes across as a very difficult man to please, a number of the star players are unsettled and Harry's legacy is a difficult thing to live up to.

But how's that different to any champions league club? There's no Blue Bill at any of those clubs to give a pat on the back for trying his best. They want the best.

He'd get a good kitty from selling a modric or bale, and they'll go for 20mill+ each. If Moyes is a good eye of talent, hell get good players in at a club that pay higher wages. All this without the shackles of being worried that the club might fall on its arse by not buying the right player with limited funds

sell one big player e.g. bale lets say 35m put pienaar on the left and then use the money to spend elsewhere.

they have the luxury of selling a few players if they wish without harming the club too much

Neiler asked who people would have out of Redknapp and Moyes. Just to compare stable old David Moyes to Harry Redknapp.

Harry Redknapp joined Spurs just before November 2008 and there were serious relegation fears. He was given the green light to spend more than £30m on the likes of Defoe, Keane and Palacious to try and cement their Premiership survival. However since then, in his full three seasons in charge, he has finished 4th twice.

In his three subsequent and only full seasons in charge - he has actually spent MINUS £13m net on transfers. Last season his only major signing was Scott Parker, £5m, Adeybayor on loan, Friedel on a free. He brought in nearly £30m selling the likes of Crouch, Pavluychenko, Palacious and Keane. Yet he still finished 4th.

The season prior, 2010-11, he only spent around £13m while bringing in £6m through sales. Redknapp has done a fantastic job at Spurs, yet still gets fired.

Imagine what he could do at Everton, with less pressure. He'd move players out of the club for sure, a lot more than Moyes has, but would be a lot more creative and less boring than Moyes. I do not box Redknapp into a category, I think he could cope with the 'no money' at Everton. I'd expect Cup Finals, CL place chases, he'd have Barkley coming through, Duffy, maybe not be so harsh on some youngsters like Baxter (who is still only 20!) who have shown promise.

If Moyes does go to Spurs then I'd love to swap him for Redknapp. He might get us much more media exposure, we'd be seen as a big club rather than a small club, and players want to play for him. He could also wipe out some of the club's debt with his dealings and still maintain our progress.

I know I'm dreaming because hardly anyone who wants Moyes out would want Redknapp in.

Ive read some utter tosh in my time, but Christ, this would take some beating.
