Problem with the like thing

Have a bit of a quandary, when I click 'like' on something, it's because I'm fond of the post. However, after I've done this, it says, 'you like this' and that seems a bit forceful. When I go back to a thread that I've forgotten I have read and see this I think, 'I'm my own man, you won't tell me what I like' so I neg the poster.
It's hipster syndrome, I suppose. Can you change it so I don't see that I like something?

my like button has taken an absolute hammering today, i reckon we would have set all kinds of like records with all the kopite bashing after their league win today.
