They won't be awarded a title Harv. They'll be given the prize money for first but as soon as they make a decision at 1 end then the top EPL clubs will have a case in court that if they made a decision at 1 end then they can at the other. Therefore they've unfairly lost huge amounts of money that they'd have received from this. If they relegate teams using PPG they wouldn't have a leg to stand on in court and they'd lose that as well and the compensation they'd have to give those 3 clubs could be a billion plus in total for loss of potential earnings.
Unfortunately, they're stringing you along right now, pretending to be trying everything but deep down, they all know it will be cancelled,
That is really the only option open to them and they are very lucky that no one has own anything and no one is mathematically relegated because it makes it very easy and no one can challenge it. It's just one of those things eh Harv.
If it's any consolation you should have good change of ending the 30 year drought next year, if the venture capitalists who own your club don't sell any players to negate the £9 million per week losses they're struggling with right now.
What interests me, is outsiders of LFC see to be desperately jumping on any article written, recycling it in the 2nd and 3rd source so it becomes fact that we will definitely do PPG.
When asked about substance, IE where is the PL or FA statement that has stated this, they go a bit quiet. At best you get a kind of broad notion like the FA saying giving a nod to sporting merit. They interpret that as PPG. It could be, but they may well have a wholly different view of merit to PPG. It may well be they feel you merit a trophy, or a promotion when you have mathematically achieved it, as per the rules.
The FA statement is a good example as well, as from what I can see, there has been no actual statement, something has been leaked and they run with it as if its fact.
I dont think we can doubt this practice is going on. The interesting point for me is why. It strikes me that they haven't gained any agreement, as if you have been informed what happens, why behave in the way they are?
I dont think they have ever considered what happens after cancellation. I'll be very honest about that. I dont think theyve grasped a world where it came be finished. So the idea they have mapped out, and finalised a route as to what's happened is just untrue. Anyone saying such a thing is not informed and is talking rubbish.
Does anyone honestly believe, if they knew they'd be gifted the title if the season ends they'd be behaving as they are, having articles written in the Murdoch Press saying that if lives have to be lost, it's a price worth paying for football? That's not ne exaggerating either, or extrapolating the basic argument, that's the title. It is brazen, and its desperate.
What happens if the league is cancelled are then some very hard discussions. 14 teams have to agree. There is no law like in France where it states the league can be done on PPG, as a legal defence. There are no teams that cant be caught (like in Belgium) where relegation didnt happen. That puts us at Holland, or England down to tier 5 currently, and likely further up the chain.
I have different PPG suggestions relegate about 5 different teams. Each of those bottom 6 know, there is a chance they could get sucked into it. We know 2 teams have some sympathy. We know Arsenal and Spurs would probably chance their arm on a void as they may get Europe again.
When very strong legal cases are presented to the league from the sides at bottom, and it starts to dawn on them that they have liabilities of hundreds of millions per club relegated, the other teams may start to get nervous.
I dont know what the outcome will be. But they are the pressures. The counter would seem to be Liverpool, on their own, whining for a trophy they haven't earned. We will see who gets to 14.
