Ha ha, yeah he won the Euros with "long grass"rubbers, came from nowhere to win it,dissapeared almost as quickly when everyone sussed him out,I even beat him years later in an inter town league game,he was playing for Leigh or Manchester I can't remember but I won two straight, I suppose I can list beating a former European champion to my modest TT achievements lol lol lol

If I remember correctly, they were two black rubbers, of different thicknesses and different spin qualities. He would hold his bat beneath the table before he served and spin it. Then when he served, he would stamp his foot so his opponent could not hear the sound of ball on bat. After the Euros the world TT organisation decreed that each side of the bat had to be of a different colour, and stamping the foot was outlawed.

Very true, many tried the same tricks at local level too!!I suppose you can never take that medal away,he was European champion once upon a time!!

Never heard of that and just looked it up. That's ingenious

John barnes talking wham again on bbc breakfast about commencing the current league campaign as it stands in 18 months, 1 year , 2 years..... Milners ped supplier will be bricking it.

Apparently, football cannot continue until this season is completed. Then go straight into next season as they've already had a break.

'Barnesy' is clearly forgetting that it will take 2 months to complete the league, then UEFA want European competition completed, surely the FA cup needs to b completed, for integrity, which means that by the time the Euros have finished next Summer, some players would have had 12 months of pretty constant football. There are managers in this league that have campaigned for years saying that its unfair to expect players to play 8 months without a break.

Where was the integrity of the competition when his mate was taking bungs?

I'm coming round to think it inevitable now. It really has to be treated the same as other industries imo and can't be a special case, so when non vital businesses are allowed, with the correct precautions, to restart, then so should football.

The only cure is the vaccine but that's a hope not a certainty and could take years if ever produced successfully, there's no certainty about it at all and no real timeframe.

The proviso is it shouldn't be rushed before it's safe, but if as safe as practically possible with precautions taken, then it can't be on hold indefinitely. No crowds however look likely to be a feature into 2021.

Players and Managers have pushed the date for restart to June 19th due to health concerns.

Bear in mind Tories have the following steps before then:
Lowered Lockdown
Want Schools back in late May/Early June

So definitely a 2nd Wave so further lockdown so back to square one for Project Restart.

Serie A and La Liga still hold onto the Bundesliga going ahead but even Germany's own Coronavirus graphs are showing an increase so just how long this will drag on with no reassurance on fans gathering outside stadiums.

A huge amount of fans don't want Football back until safe but their clubs aren't listening maybe time Governments do.

it seems that its only the premier league that has enough integriddy that it has to be completed, funnily enough, its the only competition that the RS are still involved.
