Hang on, what happened to that expensive hair transplant Rooney had? State of his head in that Derby photo!

The whole league is morally redundant

The behaviour of football clubs in general has knocked me sick throughout this whole episode. I was literally starting to hate them, Everton included, so I’m absolutely delighted to hear about everything our players, management, board and fans have done on a voluntary basis, very quietly, since March.

It has really made a big difference to me, not financially, just how I feel.

They have deferred payment of upto 50%

They will get it paid back to them eventually.

They are entitled to it, I have no issue with them getting it further down the line as football has allowed that to happen however their actions certainly help right now and send out the correct message.

It’s also been something that as far as were aware right now, no one else has done.

Add in everything they’re doing in the community, the voluntary nature of it and it’s really good to see.

Add in the donations of the fans, many of whom will be suffering as well and the doubling of that by our owners. It’s made me feel a lot better about how things have been conducted, on Everton’s behalf anyway, during this whole episode.

I think most clubs have deferred wages now.

Pretty common with all clubs due to the current situation.

One thing about our club is we have always been class off the pitch, we just need to reach them heights on the pitch now.

Liverpool win a Premier League* title but with no fans and away to Everton but at the other end of the country with barely anyone tuning in.

Love it.

This is why I've never been arsed about the season resuming because no matter how much the media and bellend RS fans try and big it up the title will be a hollow one and they know it. No fans at games, some games at neutral grounds, players not able to celebrate goals/wins the same, no victory parade. Even my RS mate who is one of their most deluded says it will be hollow.

It's a shame that a way wasn't found to end the season early and just give them the title because they were absolutely dreading that scenario.

There are normally bonuses if players are sold etc that I think those deferred wages can be paid into. Most will probably receive it at the end of their contract where the business will (theoretically) be in better shape to get through this. I suspect we have saved £15-£20m from this.

It's not a lot on the face of it, but when it comes to cash flow it could be absolutely essential. Thats a key point in all of this as well. We are not skint per se, but Usmanov et al cannot just hand us money for no reason and the summer months are always hard for all football clubs. So essentially having outgoings at less than what they were, in addition SKy maintaining payments probably means we just about keep our heads above water through the summer.

Don't underestimate that either. Cash Flow pinch points cripple businesses, often more quickly and severely than balance sheets. Most of the balance sheets you see are there to satisfy investors, creditors etc about the medium term health. On the short term, if you have no working capital you then have to start panic selling to get money in, which in the market we have is hard.

As far as I can see, very few sides have agreed any deferrals, never mind deferrals of up to 50%. Without similar agreements to that, I think a lot of teams will be really caught out this summer. We know Liverpool have got no money to buy anyone, Spurs have had to borrow £200m that needs to be paid back next summer, Southampton have to fill a £100m + black hole etc. Interesting times.

Are we skint

The whole league is in deep trouble. We have (or had) a severe short term cash flow difficulty through the summer. Longer term we have billionaires supporting us, but they are not allowed to just plunge money in currently. This will buy Everton time over the summer and probably works instead of a bridging loan which would need to be paid back at much higher rates. It's good news.
