When you blow the image up I think from that camera angle you cannot be sure that the ball is indeed completely over the line. View attachment 91257

The camera is not exactly in line with the posts and there is too much pixelation. You cannot see the full sphere of the ball and cannot be sure if that is because of a shadow or the Villa players shirt.

As I said the other angle which shows the keeper with the ball behind the post is conclusive.

The hawkeye camera won't be dealing with a low res image like that though (unless I have misunderstood you????).

Also the detection is done by software, not by a human looking at an image.

There is a video on the Hawkeye website that says only 2 of the 7 cameras need to be able to see the ball for it to work. Apparently one of the 7 cameras is normally on the roof of the stadium.

The crossbar is running right along the goal line. You don't need to zoom in and make it look like a Spectrum ZX game to see the ball is 100% clearly over the line.

EVERYONE (except you it seems) can see that ball is clearly over the line without having to zoom in.

It'll be interesting to see how the fixtures for next season will pan out. Clearly we won't have fans in the grounds for some time. Most likely not until next year. So there might well be a situation where the first half of the season is played behind closed doors. How on earth can this be done fairly?
RS are away to us, utd, city, Chelsea, arsenal, wolves, spurs and leicester in first half of the season. Just the luck of the fixtures computer

100 percent liverpool will have a lot more away ( neutral) fixtures in the first half of the season .

So, where is the other post in the photo?

100% in line with the one that we can see (the nearest one)?

And the black thing ahead of the ball? Would that be the GK's glove(s), with clear daylight between it and the post?

I would welcome your answers...

The truly embarrassing bit is that we all know Catcher chats wham. It is usually comforting wham. It is about the Redshite crumbling. Let's face it that is what we all want. Deep down we all know it is wham but it is comforting wham.

Backing up an idiot who freely admits that he posts the most outrageous things he can think of during a pandemic is obscene.

You're one to talk about chatting wham my formerly-banned friend.

Stadium naming rights are only really valuable in the states because there isn't shirt sponsorship. The problem is that it isn't extra money because it devalues your other sponsorship deals.

Basically the approach seems to be that the project isn't viable but don't worry nod nod wink wink lend us the money and Uzi will make it viable by bankrolling it with naming rights. Except naming rights deals in this country are incredibly hard to come by. Even Spurs with their billion pound stadium can't agree a deal. That is for one simple reason. Stadium rights are an American invention used because US sports don't have shirt deals. We have massive shirt sponsorship deals so naming rights are pretty irrelevant.

This may seem overly negative but what is being projected by the Club and what is actually happening are two different things.
It isn't that simple. Stadium naming rights will have an effect on other sponsorship deals, Stadium naming rights will devalue the value of shirt sponsorship for instance. Then you have the problem that Stadium costs will go on for longer than the length of the naming rights deal.

A lot of teams also struggle initially when they change to a new stadium which could have an effect on our revenues.
