Not as much as the tortoise was I'm guessing..I was shell shocked
Same fault is back again this morning, not so much fumin at the cost now, more wondering will it fix it when it arrives?...and if not how much will it cost me to get a proper auto sparky, eg somebody who actually knows wtf he's doing...if such a thing even exists nowadays - if they can't plug a laptop into most dont have a 'kin clue. After 3 or 4 days faffing about with an Intermittently faulty HT coil I finally lashed out Au$ 92+taxes and postage for a new one.
Later on I was looking for something else and I found an old one of a totally different type, so just to pass the time I stuck it with some jury rigged wiring
Zroooom - started first turn
Proper fuming me
Hope it's not your ECU,,,,,Same fault is back again this morning, not so much fumin at the cost now, more wondering will it fix it when it arrives?...and if not how much will it cost me to get a proper auto sparky, eg somebody who actually knows wtf he's doing...if such a thing even exists nowadays - if they can't plug a laptop into most dont have a 'kin clue.

You trying to cheer me up?Hope it's not your ECU,,,,,
It’s not ECU….. it’s me xYou trying to cheer me up?![]()

If it's been stood a long while ... how sure are you its not fuel / rust / water in the tank (OK unlikely in Aus, but ya gotta wonder. You trying to cheer me up?
@chrismpw
tbh, it didn't 'feel' like an ecu thing.
I'd had it running for 5, 6 mins to...
a) test the newly installed cooling system for leaks
b) see the temp gauge moving as the thermostat cuts in and out.
The gauge was just coming up to 90c and it just cut out,
Checked fuel OK
I know compression was OK
Chased the lack of spark back to the coil
You have to bear in mind this is a 1981 British Leyland () prototype fuel injection system. It's a transition thing, it's still a mixture of very early - read simple - electronics and mechanical components

Fuel delivery control, aka, Throttle Potentiometer - think ; volume knob on an old style radio

Fancy electronics it ain't.
Its been in a shed for 15yrs and this was the first time this has run since.
There are some diodes, resistors, condensers, etc doted around, could be the run up to full heat has fried one, or a wire has shorted out.
Baby steps
Keeps me busy and out of the wife's way which is the main point.
Anything more than 2 wires monkey see monkey do is beyond me - but I'm very slowly learning.
Just use your sat nav. There should be a stupid tax for those who are so stupid they really should be hammered for it………oh and kopites
We could then find the NHS properly
