Proposed changes to the Premier league

of course the do - are you argueing that the product would drive the same global revenue, not just in the UK, without Man United & Liverpool? Not with you on this one catcher!

Well I've explained to you that they dont.

In any medium term analysis, new teams just emerge and attract new fan viewers with the fickle market of international fans.

All evidence shows they tune in to watch the league, particularly those teams at the top. The league drives the revenue.

If they were the revenue drivers, why dont they just take Parrys advice, join the EFL, and then international viewers would all just watch the EFL? We know they wont, as we know its rubbish.

If this goes ahead it’ll basically be like ‘Animal Farm’, everyone will think they’re getting a great deal at the start, but then the ones who made the rules will bend and break them to suit their own agendas. The ones at the bottom will never get to the top, the ones on top will never fall from grace.

I must have watched a different animal farm to you... had plenty of bending and breaking in it but that’s where the similarities end ;)

I think about 5 less, reducing games Dec - Jan & extending the winter break to an actual one.

You only need to watch the spurs documentary to get a picture of the number of injuries happening through that period.

How are you going to reduce the games by 5? You going to just play one team away and not at home ? Also this winter break is a crap idea ... I love the football over Xmas two weeks off and get to watch heaps of games. Be boring as if everyone is stuck in doors with no shops open waiting two weeks to go back to work. The Xmas period is hard on all teams equally and therefore is fair to everyone

So they’ve lost interest in a cup competition that was their best chance of a trophy and want to get rid of it as they don’t want anyone else to win it. Now they want to turn into the football equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters. Tour the world and sell the shirt.

An immovable big six in revenue terms, is the big problem, and obviously incompatible with FFP also.

I don't think these proposals have any chance of passing, but it underlines starkly the reality that we either have to break into the top six, not as a one-off, but on a sustainable basis, or more realistically turn the top six into the top seven.

The detachment of four and now six clubs as a recognised grouping has been very damaging for us, but we have shown it's not everything being capable of attracting Ancelotti and James.

I'd love an egalitarian league, but my interest is Everton. Be that ensuring that these proposals do not become reality but also in joining the elite group, we cannot be on the outside looking in.

That's why we need hard hitters in the boardroom, to fight our corner. Usmanov should have a representative on there, and we should be looking to recruit people of leadership capacity in the industrial and commercial sectors.

I still think there is a lot of residual goodwill for Everton, and we should use that to full advantage.

Ian Holloway, currently managing Grimsby Town, was on TalkSport a little earlier - He is disgusted with the proposal and completely against the idea whole-heartedly.

Did you hear Jamie ohara about 10 minutes ago? Something along the lines of 'you have your historic clubs like everton, Southampton and West ham. They are always their or their abouts, they go down and come back up'.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Does anyone know off hand how many times Everton have been relegated in our history? Can’t be too many times I would have thought.

With American owners increasingly showing their hand, is a 'global' champions league part of their strategy here? Given the travel requirements, it would need a reduced domestic football calendar. Am looking at a combination of the top ten (ish) European clubs, several current MLS clubs and a token one or two from South America and perhaps China. As the US grows ever more multi-cultural, footie is overtaking their historic sports in many cities.

I had been wondering why Beckham found it so easy to get backers for a new Inter Miami outfit in a city that has precisely zero football pedigree. Think there could be a global long-term money ball game at play here.

Always liked Holloway , seems like a very decent man and clearly loves football. Always tells it like he sees it and calls out people when needed .

I live in Blackpool and had the pleasure of watching Blackpool quite often during Holloways time and also listening to his interviews and quotes. What a character he is. A total nutter but a lovable nutter.

The big six are already being broken up by competitive teams. Leicester, wolves and Everton are getting close. Spurs did it already. Villa and Leeds will improve over time.

That's why they suddenly want to change things.

A very large South and central American soccer mad population was the main reason
A ready made fan base
