As I saw pointed out on twitter... a summer PL tournament every five years would eventually clash with a Euros/ World Cup/ Copa America tournament. Not thought through at all.

Look at the state of cricket now, test matches now come second to meaningless t20 competitions. The greed/money always wins out.

Cities face doesn't fit, but good luck taking on their financial muscle and business know how too. That is why these current elite clubs want to wrestle a monopoly. Go back 40 years and it was Villa and Forrest leading the way. Why should those clubs be thrown into the gutter.
