Standing precariously on the edge of parting with my hard earned dough, and trading in my PS2 for a shiny brand new PS3.

I know weve duelled to death the merits of all new consoles, and with the victory of the BLU-RAY over HD-DVD and the XBOX a dead rubber; in light of recent developments when or have you invested in the new-fangled format?

If so, thoughts on picture quality...etc? Im never too impressed with the plasmas, they seem to have a sort of slight electrical fuzz...true or just my unusually high standards?

Also HD-TV. In your neck of the woods yet?

I'm faithful to my old slimline PS2, even the fact that i've been stuck on the beach on Medal Of Honour Frontline for the best part of a month doesn't detract for my devotion to the console.

In a word...Its excellent.

Some of the picture quality from the games is immense, blu-ray is a million times better than DVD and is the future of home entertainment.
Wireless is also a good feature although surprisingly takes a bit of getting used too.
Overall its a quality machine, which is way ahead of any other console on the market at the moment

You got to take into account price and what each machine is for.

Wii is basically a kids fun machine, a family friendly machine which gets you through a rainy day but ultimately isnt that good.
'360 is barely an upgrade from the XBox and it has also been out 10-12mths before the PS3.

In terms of actual ability and what it does then the PS3 is a truly superior machine to its rivals in every department and has also recently been reduced in price which will help its figures greatly

COD4 is incredible on the PS3, its like watching a real film as is Kayne & Lynch and Unchartered i have heard is also superb.
GTA1V is due out soon which i have heard is going to be very good

Yeah...COD4 is incredible on the 360 aswell...

Kayne and Lynch is fairly decent...but is on the 360.

GTA4 is coming out for the 360 and the future of the gaming is online and the 360 dominates in that market.

oh and btw since you think that the 360 is just an upgraded xbox you'll be glad to know that Gamespot.com thinks the graphics on the 360 are better.

Thats the problem at the moment PS3 is lacking the support of great games. WII is running away with the fun factor. Xbox staying ahead because the library for blueray movies still hasn't really got off the ground yet. Hopefully we will see more crossovers that may help the PS3.

I am all for the PS3 IF it comes down in price and expands the game library. There is really nothing out for the PS3 that I want or can't get for the Xbox. As far as I can see, the only reason I can come up with to get a PS3 is for Gran Turismo 5. But that is it, and I am sure as hell not going to buy a console for 1 game.

As of right now, the Xbox has the better games, graphics and online play. Hands down. If the developers ever figure out how to extract the power from the PS3 and get some real exclusives worth a [Poor language removed], then I might take a look. For fun factor, the Wii is the way to go. You still can't get them for love or money out here, they sell out as soon as shipments come in.

Anyhow, if we are talking about pure power, these next gen consoles are actually last-gen tech, when compared to the graphical power of the current crop of PC video cards. Even the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX's, which have been out for over a year know dominate the PS3 and xbox in sheer graphical abilities.

ok the wii is fun!

and the xbox is better selling! (though it has had a year or two to get in front)

but i bought a playstation about 4 weeks ago.(60gb monster ps2 compatable) for £250 and yes i can go on the internet with it!! (oh can you xbox 360 chaps sell youres cuz i dont think you can)

blu ray is ace!! ok it is the lesser of the two but its won!!

a ps3 is a ps3 the only differance is the gband (yes i was lucky) the back copatabilatly!

grand tourismo 5! they are selling a suped up demo for £20 and people are snapping it up!!!!!!!!!(ok its a rip off)

but when that game comes out the ps3 will be there dont you worry!!!!!!!!!

Well the only games which are/may take advantage of the PS3's extra power are 1st party SCEA games. All other 3rd party games are being released on both consoles so the graphics will be similar. Plus it pains me to take microsofts side on anything but the XBox is a snap to develop for and the PS3 is extremely difficult so the XBox gets the better looking ports. Unfortunately all of the XBox's best games are FPSs, which I hate because they make me sick. I never liked playing as someone's right arm as well.

Still using a PS2 and my DS, not buying a next gen game system til some decent RPGs come out.
