Woah this thread has finally woken up.

McBain the guys in all the computer shops around here have been saying that the PS3 will soon piss all over the 360 and the Wii for years....it never happens because people geniunely look at all this area and if they don't tick the boxes they wont buy it.

Value for Money.....The 360 offers most of the PS3 games with only a handful of titles on the PS3 actually exclusive to that console. The cheaper console offers a wider range of games alot of which aren't available for either PS3 or the Wii. So if we're talking about buying a console for just gaming and nothing else....

There is only one winner.

I see the old Blu-Ray has won the next generation DVD therefore PS3 is a better machine arguement is rearing it's ugly head again....but as I've said before when I first looked around for a new games machine I didn't give a [Poor language removed] about a DVD player had I wanted A blu Ray player I would've bought a Blu-Ray player....

....Seem to get the Sony fan boys kicking up a stink every couple of months due to one reason or another, Soon PS3 will have alot of exclusive titles this, Soon PS3 will be better online that. Fact is that previously sony only games Like Devil May Cry are creating there games for the 360 because it's easier to make games for. Which is the reason why Sony won the original console wars with the Playstation vs the Dreamcast vs the N64. Because when the original Playstation came out it flooded the market full of games offered them at better prices then it's rivals and it won. The fact that Sony still aren't releasing any exclusive games over 2 years after it's launch would give me cause for concern if I was a PS3 owner....

Oh well, you can stick to owning games a year after they've been released on the 360 like Lost Planet :P

Value for Money - Dont quite follow your logic on this one. How does getting more 'inferior' games qualify as better value for money? I will offer you 5 £10k cars or 1 £50k car, which one will you take? Plus when you take into account it does have a blue ray on it (Which would cost you £700 plus to own) then surely the ps3 is the better value for money.

Old Blu-Ray argument - Might well be old, but it doesnt stop it being relevant, dvd's will eventually be phased out and you will have to purchase 1 anyway and with a ps3 you already own 1.

More Games - I would rather a select few great games over a load of average games and a few great ones anyday
 
It's all in the eye of the beholder. In my opinion, and I have been playing games for a LONG time (TRS-80 was my first system in the '80s) and the Xbox has the games I want to play, which is why I bought it. I didn't buy it for it's potential processing power or the format of the next-gen dvd player - I bought it for the games. Like I said before the only game I want on the PS3 is GT5, and that isn't enough to justify me dropping a large sum of money on it. Maybe, in a year if the prices are cut sufficiently I will pick one up. Until then, I will make do with my shitty inferior Xbox that produces kick-ass graphics and has plenty of superb games to tide me over.

Bill, say you wanted to play Crysis in all of its glory, you would need the latest state-of the art quad-core processor (which will be out in a month or so), 8 gig of RAM, Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition and 2 $600 graphics cards. Basically a rig that costs in the region of $2000. And that is if you build it yourself. Buy it pre-built and you are easily looking at $4000.

With these consoles, because they can't upgrade, they get very clever with the programming to yield superb graphics that still compete. Plus, they will play everything - no checking system requirements or 'owt.

Does it matter? When people spread payments out they are more likely to do it then all at once. Look at it this way, when I get the Blu-Ray add-on for the xbox, I will still have my HD-DVD add-on and I can now pick up the plethora of HD-DVD titles for CHEAP!

I am not going to argue about which is better. I am not a fan-boy. I can only make recommendations to people who are looking to buy one based on my own opinions, which is the only thing you can do.

I am happy with my xbox and you are happy with your ps3.

Yes Because PS3's headliner Resistance:fall of man really was better value for money then Gears of War.

that has to be a piss take. The games on the 360 are lightyears ahead of the PS3's even that research time piece that McBain pointed to shows that the 360 is better value for money in EVERY department. Your clutching at straws now.

Dont agree and we never will on this. Ps3 is light years ahead of any console on the market, in fact i would rather have the Wii than the Xbox and i hate the Wii

Look around show me a indepentant site that shows what your stating as fact.

Facts that you have stated are :

Yes Ill admit the developer peices is an interesting one.

For the record, I bought an xbox not long after (well for me anyway) they came out in 03 i think, and true the xbox was a way better machine than the PS2. I argued tooth and nail until I kind of got sick of the lack of titles and got a PS2.

That and the Xbox crapped itself after not too long. Which is what happened to alot of them.

Still I think the biggest factor is the HDDVD angle. I dont want to buy peripherals thank you.

If my game machine cant play the standard DVDS I will gladly give up a couple of games that cyber nerds or whoever thinks I cant live without.

Im getting too old.

Well known fact the original 360 is only a slight update on its predecessor, 1 of the reasons they have since updated it as they knew it wasnt up to standard.
Ratchet and Clank, CoD4, Warhawk, Uncharted, Gt5 to name a few are superb games on the Ps3
Ps3 is more powerful than any other machine, uses a next gen dvd which others cant match.....i could go on.
The 360 has no features the Ps3 cant match if not better in every department
 
Wow, you really are seeing only what you want to see aren't you!

You are not objective in any way! :lol:

Both consoles have their pro's and con's. I am able to see that and make my selection based on that, you see to only see specs and marketing.
