Spellow had just reopened prior to corona. Id imagine some of these pubs rely a lot on match day crowds

Only the Winslow that I know only opens match days. Spellow is closed.

Spellow hadn’t long been reopened either.

Its only the game kept most of them going but there seems to be more in than there used to be generally. Probs due to furlough etc.

One match day probably gives them more business than they get in a month otherwise. Losing 20 match days would have a catastrophic effect on them.

To be honest ive said this myself, none close to the ground shold be allowed to be open if we play, its going to be hard enough to have a crowd at a game, this will only make it worse, help the spread but the actual game will be blamed

The sooner this mindset is dumped and Johnson shows some proper leadership the better. There are currently 10 times more deaths from flu/pneumonia than from Covid.

lollol Yeah they definitely make use of all the available space in the elm and the petrol station. The stress of getting out would be worse than the actual game!

Went past the elm in the car on Sunday. It was open and pretty certain they had a for sale sign up as well

Apparently they're going to build houses on the site of the Elm. There's a pub further down Westminster road called the Phoenix that's re-opened after a very long time.

I used to work in a match day pub (dublin) would do a full two weeks takings in the day. Would suspect 20 games is enough to keep a quiet boozer afloat rest of year
