Benitez has confirmed same squad available as was v Villa

So

Begovic
Kenny - Keane - Holgate - Digne
Gomes - Davies
Townsend - Iwobi - Gordon
Rondon

Or he'll go 3 at the back and chuck Branthwaite in for one of the attackers

I'll be dissapointed with Benitez if he plays a full strength side for this one we have too many injuries to risk further.

For me 343

Begovic

Keane Holgate Branthwaite

Kenny Davies Gomes Digne

Iwobi Simms Gordon

Should be enough to beat QPR's 2nd string.

Benitez has said Simms isn't ready

That comment in bold. I know we're knackered (4 weeks into the season) but bloody hell, we've not won a trophy in 26 years

We're not strong enough to fight on multiple fronts this season mate its either the league or a crack at the cups.

But if he plays full strength teams in the cups and our league form suffers people cant then moan if we dont finish top 8 etc they cant have their cake and eat it.

We did alright in the cups under Martinez but finished 11th and was bottom half in his final season as well - we simply dont have enough depth/quality.

I can never understand this argument when we’re not playing in Europe. We still have a squad of 23 players and we’re only a couple of games away from another international break when the likes of Townsend, Gray, Doucoure, Keane, Godfrey etc. can put their feet up. Strongest team possible please.

No youngsters kept back so I'm going for a team that looks a bit like this.
Lonergan
Kenny Keane Branthwaite Holgate
Gomes Davies
Townsend Gordon Iwobi
Simms

Subs
Begovic Godfrey Digne Doucoure Allan Gray Rondon

If Gbamin is fit he takes Allan's place on the bench. Mina struggles with 3 games a week so would rest him for the weekend. Rondon off the bench at about 70 minutes. I'd start Simms as this was the level of opposition he would have been playing against if we'd loaned him to Blackpool again. Digne needs protecting as he's our only LB we'll get away with Holgate against these but would rather not have play PL opposition. Kenny RB as this his level. Godfrey save for the weekend. Doucoure and Allan can't risk losing either by over working them. Gray as super sub if needed.
