Quitting Alcohol

I drink every night (the job/holiday resort scene) has always been a major factor in my life.Even on my nights off I will have a beer ....... the beer might last me an hour or so............. not drinking to get drunk... just enjoy as @roydo said........ cooking .... unwinding etc.

Honestly now that I am not drinking, I've wanted a candy bar or ice cream more than I ever have. I even detest chocolate and I almost caved into buying a Snickers. I opted for a fruit salad that killed the craving.

Yeah I had 3bars of chocolate last night. Tonight will be a killer but have 10mile run in the morning

I've mostly cut it out because of the sugar and calories. Trying to shift my uni weight by going the gym and running most nights. Seems pointless to throw 250 calories down my throat.

....I'm a social drinker, I like a pint in good company and would never think of trying to give that bit of enjoyment up. I would never have a drink sitting at home alone.

Same here, Eggs.

I will drink all night if I have company.......but I can't even finish one beer if I am sitting in the house alone watching Everton on TV.

Good luck to the OP in his attempt to give it up ;)

There's a good swell of opinion that sugar is up there with all the 'bad' drugs.

All I seem to have done is swap Coffee for the Alcohol.

I actually gave up on 31st Aug, not for any big earth shattering reason...It just seemed like the thing to do at the time, could've been just to see if I could.
Got given a bottle of Glenlivet over the weekend, we saw off half of it, tbh, I wasn't too enamoured with the taste, so I've put it away until another month has passes by.

Strange thing is I did think about alcohol over the month, but couldn't really decide what, if anything I actually fancied ( turns out it wasn't glenlivet, but that might be a whisky/taste thing )

Anyway I have a big celebration in early Nov, so we shall see what we see.

I've not drank now since last Sunday, which sadly is the longest I've gone without alcohol since probably June.

Really enjoying being fresh and clear headed and already noticing a difference in work and the gym.

Shame I'm going to blow all the good work by drinking @Baines' left foot under the table on Friday.
You'll be snorting me under the table too by the sounds of things.

Same here Max. Trying to go a whole month off it. Hoping to lose a bit of timber and give my liver a rest.
