Quitting Alcohol

Oh you're very very right on this - im the type who wakes up after a night on it and goes 'well this sucks' and then goes on a multi day binge to make it not suck
Big reason why when i quit, i quit altogether - the stuff just tends to fuel cravings

As of now I'm drinking in as close to moderation as i can eke out but i'm not going to pretend it's in anyway healthy; i just absolutely love alcohol and everything about it - the taste of it, the burn of slugging spirits, each place having it's local brew etc

What can you do eh

I couldn't agree more mate, however as I've got older and my lifestyle has changed with age ( kids ) my drinking has changed too. A hangover with small kids is the worst and longest day of your life, plus it's not fair on them either.
So I drink in real moderation now, plus as along time sufferer of depression, alcohol and hangovers exacerbate depression something chronic, due to ale being a depressant.

I don't drink much, probably 4 pints at most over a weekend and a glass or two of red with my Sunday dinner. The problem I have is my body seems to be rejecting it as I get older, even 1 pint or glass of wine and I just want to sleep!. If I do have a few (very rarely) the next day is horrific.

Christ young kids + hangover would probbaly throw me totally over the edge
As a sufferer of depression i feel like it does tend to feed into my drinking; alcohol can turn a day that is a solid uncopeable grey into almost a rainbow of sadness that i can live out - it really does let you tap your emotions when you just feel numb and tiny against this massive thing taking over your life

I tend to do a lot of my best writing sauced
A lot of my best crying too

It's about knowing your limits and sticking to them !

Aye
I'm back on the weightlifting now which really does tend to take it all by the scruff of the neck and drag it up to a better level
There's a lot to be said for being under a bar when life is throwing all sorts you cant deal with at you - there is a real relief in narrowing down your choices to 'get this bar back onto the rack' or 'be pinned down by a big lump of iron forever'

XD
We all gonna make it bro, one way or another

So I have recently stopped drinking alcohol altogether and am actually concerned with how hard it is. I never considered any kind of dependence on it because I never thought about drinking. We would enjoy a beer or two while grilling or some wine with dinner which never seemed like a bad thing.

I have recently just stopped with it all and it's been rather hard. No red wine with steak, no beer with a cheeseburger, etc. It scares me a bit. Has anyone gone through this?
Will be exactly the same as smoking.

The hardest part to get used to is the routine of it. Removing yourself from that routine will be awful, so just substitute the alcohol for another drink. Then over time make that the routine.

That was the hardest thing for me giving up smoking, not the nicotine as much as when I smoked. I smoked on my dinner, making tea, after tea, simming games on fifa etc just triggers that I instinctively then went and smoked afterwards.

Perhaps every time you plan to buy some just put the money in a jar. Just do thst over a month or two and see how much you have saved doing it at the same time? Then treat yourself afterwards feeling better about it?

Do you vape the same now ?

I don't. Apart from going on my dinner in work I will go and vape for the routine of it. But if I'm going somewhere on my dinner I won't be actively doing it.

I only really do it relaxing in the house, if I'm active I don't really use it whereas before I would always have to go somewhere to have a ciggie every now and again.

Don't give up and good luck
Don't buy booze for home consumption for a start , bit obvious I know but like if you're on a diet you won't buy chocolate for the home
