There's a lot of interesting and informative stuff on Radio 4. Programmes like Money Box or You and Yours will tell you things that you need to know. I can't think of any other station that does that. I know I'd be lost without it.

Can be absolutely engrossing or the absolute pits. Short Cuts is one of those curious shows that leaves me feeling happy whenever it’s on.

Best radio station on earth

I try radio 3 every now and then. They broadcast lots and lots of silence. A couple of times a week they'll play a nice recognisable classic or a bit of jazz. The space in between they fill with a recording of what sounds like somebody pushing an entire orchestra with their their pots and pans down the stairs - modernist weird stuff which undoubtedly makes the controller look intellectual and discerning.
