Kevin Sheedy came from Liverpool as did Ablett, Beardsley and the wonderful Dave Hickson. Did either of those players rob us of our dignity?
Dave Hickson did not come from Liverpool.

He went to Liverpool when they were in the second division after two spells with us.

Plus sheedy never got a game for the RS

for every Beardsley or Ablett I raise you a Barmby
Players are different anyway. I have no idea why they are either, they just are.

A lot depends on timing and success too though. Nobody had any strong feelings on Ablett because he was a bit part player for them and a quite enough and nice enough lad to blend in. Beardsley was on the top of his game when we got him.

Lets just say we signed Steven Gerrard at some point. If we signed him at his peak powers from that lot we would probably end up loving him (if he continued how he played for them) if we got him post Slippy G era when he was finished then we would hate him.

Our new manager is in a similar boat. He is (well was seemingly) reviled by us because he was 1, successful with them, 2, a bit of a snide and 3, people think he is past it.

I think with anybody hatred is pretty fluid feeling that can change depending on the scenario.

No Everton fan needs to provide a reason to justify not wanting an ex-RS manager at the club.

no reason whatsoever.

to try and force them to do so is both insulting and offensive.
One thing is not wanting.

I am in that camp.

Another thing is deliberately trying to create a poisonous atmosphere at Goodison that affects our bravehearts.

We are bad enough without being at each others throats.

Moshiri isn't in control anymore - Usmanov is the one with the chequebook and by all accounts hired Carlo and Benitez.

Keep dreaming but unless we struggle and end up in the bottom few spots Benitez will at the minimum serve his first 2 years of his contract and likely his 3rd if he has us around where Carlo did or hopefully higher.

Benitez goes when Uzzy wants him to not when Kev The Rat does...
Carry on tugging yourself off in front of that Benitez portrait in your bedroom lad. lol
Mid table mediocrity beckons
Rondon? Shelvey?
No thanks

American sports have some fun rivalries but they don't get close to the same depth of feeling as rivalries in other nations with true sporting clubs. Too corporate, too new, too flimsy.
I believe White Sox and Cubs fans detest each other, as do Red Sox and Yankees. I remember reading tourist advice for Boston that said don't wear a Yankees cap or shirt when visiting. Sounds like it could get ugly there.

Yes it does , clearly it does to a lot of us . Obviously not for you and that’s fine but I’d wouldn’t particularly like Dalglish or McMahon next , that said I’m sure plenty here would explain why we’d need to get behind it and it’s a cracking decision and the only other option was Eddie Howe .

look im sure this will wear off , I was hoping it had yesterday but it hasn’t and im fed up . By the Southampton game I’ll want him to get us three points but it matters to me that I won’t be singing a new managers name or cheering , In fact it both annoys and upsets me .
Don’t get me wrong…. I don’t want him either. It’s a ridiculous appointment. I’m just pointing out that our larger problem is our current squad is not good enough and even if the club hired the worlds greatest manager and 100% of fans supported the hire … we’d still have the same issue.
