Dave Hickson did not come from Liverpool.

He went to Liverpool when they were in the second division after two spells with us.
Aye, I'll stand corrected on Hickson. Nevertheless, the point still stands: someone of great respect left us for them and he isn't some form of pariah.

I'm not saying people should be delighted with Rafael signing nor have I ever insinuated it - people have opinions; personally, I'm not delighted.

But, I do not understand the vitriol. My point is that people have moved between the club, with people coming this way usually better treated than the other.

So I think it’s probably because the manager is the figurehead of the club, the most easily identifiable thumbnail whereas a player makes up one of the squad . An underperforming or not massively popular player can be absorbed , a manager is always front and centre .

So if I have concerns a players days are over and he’s on the way down the impact isn’t anywhere near as huge . They can be lifted by the others , absorbed into the greater squad or carried by others on a bad day but the manager well he’s always the manager . Good day or bad day it’s on them , they’re also contractually obligated to be the face of our club after games. So I think that’s why and of the face of my club is a RS I’d rather be confident it’s a price worth paying.

also I’ve seen it compared to former players we signed from them if Benitez gives the kop the v’s or says unlike the RS he’d die for Everton I might change my opinion .

I was gutted and very angry about the appointment but.. Whilst at work I watched talk sport, There was a red on, He was discussing the appointment and was also really angry. 'He's on our flag... He has no loyalty' and I thought 'meh' if this could in some way upset them too, well it has an upside.

…..perhaps he was trying to get the fans on his side, but I was a bit concerned when Benitez said something along the lines of:

’i‘ve watched Everton lots, I know the players. The poor home form was because there were no fans in the stadium’.

I think the poor home form was because we didn’t have players who take the game to the opposition, who build and maintain attacking pressure. I’d hope it was something Brands and him are looking to address as a matter of priority.

I watched the Ballague interview and, aside from his obvious bias which he admitted, it was interesting to hear him say that Benitez will ditch any players who don’t deliver on what he wants. I hope that he has already identified who he wants and who he doesn’t want.

Honestly if he can finally help us achieve a trophy after so many years of not making it I'll be made up with him. We have him now and hopefully he is hungry to prove himself as he has said and it's not just lip service

…ditching them doesn’t necessarily mean getting them out of the club. We’ve seen with the likes of Besic, Tosun & Bolasie that players are more than happy to sit on big contracts.

He’s a moody, stubborn Manager. He’ll certainly push the ones he doesn’t want into the background.
