…ditching them doesn’t necessarily mean getting them out of the club. We’ve seen with the likes of Besic, Tosun & Bolasie that players are more than happy to sit on big contracts.

He’s a moody, stubborn Manager. He’ll certainly push the ones he doesn’t want into the background.

Yes that’s the concern. The recruitment has been so poor. I think you really have to wonder whether the club did any research into the character of some of these players. You’d think as professionals with a short career they’d want to play as much as possible.

Even when Koeman made clear to Niasse he had no place at the club he managed to stick around. Suppose you can’t blame them for wanting to pick up a big pay cheque.

…..perhaps he was trying to get the fans on his side, but I was a bit concerned when Benitez said something along the lines of:

’i‘ve watched Everton lots, I know the players. The poor home form was because there were no fans in the stadium’.

I think the poor home form was because we didn’t have players who take the game to the opposition, who build and maintain attacking pressure. I’d hope it was something Brands and him are looking to address as a matter of priority.

If there’s one thing I hope this moody chap does in his tenure here it’s tell a few home truths to our players. His apparent emotional detachment may mean a few people who have been having an easy ride might find life getting a bit more uncomfortable.

TBH I'm over the drama of it and just want the fella to do well for us. We will never know with any certainty what goes on behind closed doors but he will know that everyone is looking at what he does; first players to be shipped out, first signings; first team picked etc.

Sure, the ones going out and in are down to the club, not just him, but he will know those decisions will reflect on him. First team selection is all on him.

I will pay a bit of interest, but after the garbage we had to watch last year and now this, added to the fact that the PL have not punished the big 6 EL breakaways, then I’m a bit cured of it all anyway.
Football is supposed to be fun for the fans. There has been no joy in Everton for years now.

I'm sure it is. He's hardly going to throw the players under the bus before he's even met them is he? He's not a sentimental bloke, so I'm sure there will be a fair few changes in personnel.

Aways on the training ground, never switches off from improving the team and....“He’s the fastest at adapting to things during a game that I’ve ever seen,” says one football insider. “Rafael reads games like no other. He will always back his starting game plan and system but when it gets to the point it’s just not working he is decisive enough to change and will have plans B, C and D ready too.”

How we've missed someone who can do that from the dugout.
