When we first got David Moyes he was full of energy and enthusiasm for the job. If we had been able to back him properly then who knows how far he could have taken us.We definitely crushed his spirit in the end that's why it ended badly.
Beni could not have worked under the restrictions that Moyes did he would have threw his dummy out of the pram.
Who is the better manager a young Moyes or the Benitez of today I would say Moyes
I'd say the Moyes of today is better than benitez and I wouldn't want him either.

I completely agree in principle with dropping under performing players who can't be arsed in favour of younger hungry players regardless of whether they are not as good a player as those that they are replacing.
However whether Benitez would drop , let's say Richarlison and replace with Gordon in a potentially toxic environment I'm not so sure.
I think everyone would drop an underperforming player and replace them with someone whose good enough or even close to good enough wouldn’t they ? If they aren’t good enough though surely you’re potentially doing more harm than good otherwise every struggling team would be 6 u23 players and they just aren’t .

I think that benitez is in the mood for making unpopular decisions..... He has to be, he's got nothing to lose.

He's not bothered about being liked, he only cares that the players share his aim of winning. This is what the club has needed for a long time - hard faced professionalism.

I look forward to it.

If you are brave enough to do it ( drop an established player for a youngster ) it does send out a positive message both to those coasting and those aspiring.

I’ll tell you what blows my mind that in any what you’re anything but a water carrier for our , sorry correction my , new manager . Now as it happens I hope he succeeds at the club but because I love it and it means an awful lot more to me than someone like you could ever understand.
Plenty of others here are supporting the appointment but are doing so as Evertonians and it’s clearly different to you and your obvious agenda .

Keep doing you and earning your money or his love whatever it is you crave .
I read that post about 3 times and I don't understand what you are saying....but I'll try and answer whatever it is you were trying to ask.

My agenda is simple. I'm agitated that some Everton fans like yourself get hurt and angry over years of mediocrity but you can't see the cause of this..... You are more bothered that the new manager used to manage Liverpool and called us small. Being a super dooper Evertonian doesn't mean your love and hurt for the club means your thinking is clear

We have a rotten, appalling, amateur and pitiful culture at the club. It stems from the fact that we are fertile ground for players with decent ability but below average hunger and desire to win but get paid wages which set them up for a very comfortable life......

These players are lovely lovely blokes .......some of them are really good at pulling the wool over your eyes. They are experts at post match losing quotes designed to make them look like they are one of the good guys.

Even our supposed main leader Seamus Coleman ...... Can't sort out players quarrelling over freekicks or penalties. Oooh but he can look at them with disgust when dancing to celebrate a goal ......

Gomes has a walkathon ....."it's a pity about his injury"....... Err no, he was like that before his injury. If the stars align and the temperature, hydration level of the grass is right and his heads in the right place he may turn up and provide a game that earns him another 7 matches of pitiful gutless contributions...... Ah but he's lovely though.

I'd happily go out and sign coutinho and Suarez just to really put to bed this red nonsense. Either one of those players would give more for us that Siggy or Gomes......ah but they didn't play for Liverpool do did deeee

So I disagree with very little of that , where we disagree agree is that the solution is a former RS manager who is still so ambitious and hungry in the game his last job was grabbing the cash in China.

look I genuinely hope he’s a success there are only so many times I Can repeat that but I have extremely serious reservations

Again I’m not sure anyone disagrees but the player you bring in has to be good enough or frankly the manager doesn’t look brave he looks a fool .

There's a lot in your post that I agree with .......

Players being allowed to coast

A lack of professionalism

A need for ruthless decisions to be made

Ridiculous sentimentality at Goodison getting in the way.

In short we need an enema , I'm just far from convinced that Benitez is the right man to administer it but I would be happy to be proved wrong.

Why do you need 6 u23 players??? Don't be extreme to try and strawman a valid point....

The moment a Gylfi or Gomes is dropped for an onyango it sends out a message. But that never happened.....

Would onyango be as good as Gylfi on Gylfis better game? Probably not. Would he likely agitate the coasters in the team by busting a gut - yes.

I understand far more about performance culture having worked in HR for near 20 years. Everyone has seen the annoyance of long established staff members when a newcomer joins a stagnant team with a fresh approach ....... They try and belittle them, call them a brownnoser, try and make them become lazy like them so they don't look so bad.

Not necessarily.
It doesnt matter how talented a player is if they are not performing.
Now there may be a multitude of reasons for that under performance - it's the managers job to find out why and deal with that - but if the player just can't be arsed then I'd rather have 100% effort from a youngster every day of the week than a talented player going through the motions.

Cant wait for the first win under Rafatollah all the angry da's will be aching to celebrate but wont incase they look like they are happy whilst Benitez is manager lol

….I didn’t want the appointment for the reasons I’ve stated but I think Benitez will do a reasonable job. If we win the PL, I‘ll be chuffed but I still think it’s the wrong appointment.

I imagine plenty of posters feel the same, we won’t need to be vaulted after every victory. There is the chance that he won’t be very good, but I suspect he’ll be safe rather than progressive.
