My expectations are top half. We can get there with what we have.

Personally Ild rather we sold all the *quality* players we have like DCL and Richarlison and spend the money on players who have stomach for a fight and turn up each week. That might entail finishing bottom half for a season while it beds in.

We need to re-establish an identity. Leeds did it under Bielsa. We have to be thinking along those radical lines. Hard work and movement. Team work and a fan base committed to the project.

This drift under Moshiri/Koeman/Brands has to stop and professionalism has to return.

I think if the season started tomorrow, and it was the same ins and outs and he got top half, albeit with lesser points (so a higher finish with lesser points) I think that would be a solid job and certainly not enough to be talk of replacing him. I like you am a big fan of point gained as opposed to position being a good indicator, but there does have to be a bit of nuance to that too.

If we lose one of the key players, and don't replace accordingly that also has to be factored in. However the goals outlined above seem realistic to me. I am not sure avoiding a relegation dogfight is a reasonable goal.

You've done nothing but scream that the fans were desperate for Howe or Potter for the last few months, now you're saying we want hollywood...? The goalposts are moving so fast, they're just a blur.
Time for your Ritalin, boy.

There were plenty gagging for "Potterball" to come in and have us playing like peak Barca, the "just give it Dunc" gang and lets not get into the minority willing to give Howe/Pulis a go.

But that doesn't change the fact that a vocal section of the fans want hollywood - be it in signings, style of play, image of the manager.

You'll very rarely ever please more than 50% of our fanbase at any one time.

You offered me Cahill & Carsley over Rodriguez & Gomes I would take them everyday of the week as they would give their all - many wouldn't as they want style over substance look at the clamour many have for Kean because he pulls a scowl moody face and has a high rating on FIFA.

We wont be near a relegation dogfight.

These players only wilt when expectation is placed on them. If there's no pressure on them they'll find a good few results.

I'm happy going into the new season with all talk of bottom half / relegation fight. That suits the players we have.

Give it 3 months and he will be claiming he never wanted his beloved "rafatollah" in the first place.

I never "wanted" Benitez mate - I wanted a manager of his style of management i.e not the players best mate.

If he was sacked tomorrow I wouldn't bat an eyelid although I wouldn't be rejoicing when the reality is we'll likely replace him with no one better.

Been brought in as a Benitez propaganda machine, his Joseph Goebbels if you will.

“I have been working my whole career on getting in the box and when I am there finding the right areas – and he [Benitez] wants me inside the box."

He's 30 years old, so it's safe to say working on it hasn't worked.

Let's see if he's still spouting bollocks after the inevitable nightmare start to the season.

The bloody manager has only been here 10 minutes, and Townsend 5. Not remotely enough time for anyone to work 'tirelessly' over anything. People work tirelessly for years, raising money for a hospice. Conceivably, a coach could work tirelessly in extra sessions etc over a couple of seasons with a youth team player to get them to develop into what they have the potential for. Doing something for a few training sessions doesn't remotely qualify for tireless.

Off to spen the next 5 minutes tirelessly scratching my backside.

He’ll be taking lessons from Coleman and Keane and the like. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets promoted to the team mouthpiece we’ll wheel out after a 2-0 home defeat to Norwich.
