Are we just being coy about our transfer dealings this summer, because if I remember rightly Carlos said there were transfer funds before he left (or perhaps I dreamt it) so if I’m right why is there all this talk we can’t sign anyone. I reckon there’s a few last minute deals that could happen. Whether we sell many more players or not.

Maybe it's just me I would sooner have James for 23 games a season than 38 from a shelvey/longstaff
On average he spent 70 minutes on the pitch in those 23 games in the PL.

And he wasn't influential in many games in the second half of the season: 3 goals and 1 assist. Most worrying he wasn't included in the squad for 5 of the last 6 games and he wasn't injured.

He chooses when he plays, the manager doesn't choose.

Well I think that might be about to change with Benitez and pretty soon he'll be some other club's headache.

Didn't he say something about ignoring ffp because of the crap super league punishments? That would say we are constrained but at that point we didn't care. But now the super league has died down, we maybe aren't willing to take that same stance.

Right back and another decent centre mid and we’d be okayish in my book. DCL and Richalrison up top would keep us out of serious trouble. Doucoure Gbamin Allan should be able to do something in midfield.

How have we got to the point of ‘keeping out of serious trouble’ being an ok season?

The club are incredibly lucky that they can continually talk of Champions League ambitions without actually showing any.

Because qualifying for Europe would be a good season. Flirting with relegation would be a bad season. Staying out of trouble would be an ok season.

Bet some of the younger players like Godfrey and Davies must be pinching themselves having an actual decorated manager take time out to coach them
Do you laugh when you type these out , thinking “ for sure this will stir them up “ . Or is it you nudge your Missus “hey luv this is so ridiculous it’ll definitely get a reaction and wind em right up , score another for forever “.

The good news is you’ve removed all doubt and made it clear you’re Beyond parody now . you’re having a good time at least .
