I wish I could find out why someone like Galthier turned us down. The guy would have been PERFECT here instead of this fat dour dinosaur.
Do we know that we were even in for him?
I suspect that our owner who makes all the decisions has never even heard of him.
I feel sure that if we had really made a serious play for him that he would have found the prospect of managing a decent team in the biggest league in the world very hard to resist.

@ForeverBlue92

Can you confirm that Benitez has made 3 signings? Players who will have received signing bonuses, wages plus the agent fees...

Also that he has Kean and Gbamin added to the squad. An additional £50mil worth of players not available last season

Just want you to be clear on the above :)

Benitez has signed 3 players totalling £1.5 million mate.

If Carlo was currently manager the forum would be in overload for excuses

"not backed the bloke"

"same dossers from last season letting him down"

"whats he meant to do with Coleman and Iwobi?"

:coffee:

If this guy looks at our squad of crap and decides that James Rodriguez is the problem

Then we really are in trouble
Nail - Head.

If James hasn't been hoofed by Saturday, and he's still not starting or in the squad vs the saint's, then this turd of a manager can do one and I'm firmly in the "sack him pronto" camp.

Imo he shouldn't have been in the running for our club, but Moshiri/Uzzy made the call, so I was willing to bite the bullet, watch some matches and see some of the results we get under Benitez, before condemning him.

However, to ostracize James and seemingly want to get shut when the fella just wants to play is a very strange decision, especially with all the other problems Benitez has to face - plenty of other hills to choose to die on.

James doesn't play enough. He's in and out of form.

James IS a problem.

He's a player a club with a great first team can call off the bench; he's not a player for a club that have to have players on the pitch most of the season and who can turn in consistent professional performances.
