It’s the same squad from last season with Gbamin actually now fit and Kean back as well, plus the additions of Gray Townsend Begovic and the return of Branthwaite.

Last season we were all positive going into the first game so apart from some childish antics about hating Benitez why is there a load of doom and gloom?

Benitez is now our manager like it or not. We have to live with it but just because you may not like him you should still support the club and the team when they go onto the pitch that is what counts.

I don’t like this current squad, I thought Carlo did well at times last season to get what he did out of them. If people were moaning about the lack of investment in the squad from that angle I’d have no problem. As it it’s though the squad is marginally better than it was last season thanks to Kean Gordon Branthwaite Gray Gbamin Townsend all being available for selection over and above what we had last season. We’ve only lost Bernard (as of yet)

Instead it just seems to be the whole ‘I don’t like Benitez , he’s buying half of Newcastle’ angle that’s being massively peddled to create a mood of utter despair when there’s no reason for it. Gets boring after a while,

We should be moaning about the board, Koeman, Walsh, Allardyce, the people who put us in this FFP hole. Even add Brands and Silva to that list if you want. Benitez is really the last person responsible for the mess at Everton.
