Yeah Benitez seen the potential, Carlo was a total failure but Rafael knew he could do better and so do the club, onwards an upwards, the platform is weak, but the determination and vision from the manager is clear
Ancelotti, as crap as the footy was and as many injuries he had to deal with and no fans etc, had us in the running for CL in April. We should have got Europe. It was a failure not to.

We look just as crap going forward now as we did last season, if not worse.

Well, no.

The point is to not judge him so conclusively after 11 games.

The irony is Williams concludes with Benitez needs time but Evertonians are spoilt brats who won't give him it.

There is no plan to the club tbf, he's bang on right. It's just 'get to the stadium'.

I don't rate Benitez as a manager. I think he's well past it. His subs are crap, the way he attacks is predictable and he's not even had the defensive organisation there. His tactics in the last few games have been atrocious.

I do think he is the disciplinarian and type of in-detail coach that Everton need, I just think his fundamental approach to the game is stuck in 2009 and nothing he's done for most of the last decade makes me think differently. I think his appointment sums up how badly the club is run, because he's seen as a 'safe pair of hands'.

I don't blame him for things that aren't on him. Injuries - good to see he's trying to fix this - previous recruitment, crap players etc. But he will now have full remit over every penny we spend, and he did in the summer - whether that's £1.7m or £170m. He's in control.

He may turn out good for us, I don't think he will but I'd love to be wrong.

Agree, he did fail, but i dont think he had the desire and belief in Everton, he didnt even pretend to care, total waste of an appointment

Out of all the managers we could have hired he was never going to get time and a fair judgement from the entirety of the support and that's why it was such a stupid appointment.

If you want stability and a bit of rebuilding then they shouldn't have hired someone that a good portion of the support wouldn't give the time of day to.

I don't get why people are shocked that he's not getting supported. He wasn't wanted from day one by a lot of people and he would have to do amazing to change that. At the moment we aren't even doing good, it's just around alright. That's not going to change any minds for him.

You know what. There are some who support him, there are some like you who doesn't, and then there is a majority who really don't care and just want Everton to do well. They know it will take time and can see that he is doing more good than bad and that the main issue right now is not the manager.

It's funny how all of you watched the game when Everton loses and then suddenly so many of you "did not watch the Tottenham game". Is it so hard to admit the team tried, played generally well, pressed well and lack quality in attack? Even those who admitted that the team played well attributed it to the crowd and Benitez did nothing. It's childish statements like this that makes you more annoying than those who support him.

Remember the cryarsing about substituting Gordon in previous games? The player himself just said he finally felt fit enough for 90 minutes and even then I could see he was struggling after 70 minutes during the Spurs game and he was less effective after that and should have been substituted.

Did he fail? I keep hearing that top half is an achievement with this squad. Which minus one player who lots in here raged against and says is crap, and a few of benitez' own additions, it's the same squad. So if benitez gets 10th, has he failed?

We looked good under ancelotti when he had few injuries and most of his full team, we looked poor when he had an injury crisis. If we accept benitez has an injury crisis now of 3 players, and we aren't getting many points because mina, doucoure and dcl are out, when they are back after international break, then we will be winning most games right?

Benitez himself has already said that 8th is failure.

With everyone back we will be better. Whether that's enough to win most games is yet to be seen.

I don't support him, want everton to do well and gave him credit for the performance being better against Spurs. So can we have an extra group for those people please?

The flip side, playing devil's advocate, is that there are also posters who won't allow him to be criticised at all, when he is not infallible and is part of the whole system. So that's part of why people get so fed up and it's been like it has in here. Is it so hard to admit that he gets things wrong as well?

I'm not asking what benitez has said though. It's posters in here saying we should expect mid table with this squad and that 14th and up is an achievement etc. But we had 10th with this squad and that is deemed as failure?

Well. You can join the group who understands it takes time and a few windows to get better players in which means we are in the same group. Hugs?

I put it to you that Everton's squad remains roughly the same while other teams improved and that changes the expectations a little? I would agree with you if no other clubs improved and spent money to buy better players for their teams. I do agree Everton should aim for Europe and while midtable is not a success by any means, it is also not totally unexpected.

I did watch the Tottenham game and the summary is fair. Tried hard but little quality when attacking.

I do think that had to do with the crowd being on their back from the kick off because we didn't see that reaction away to Wolves after losing 2 in a row.
