Did he fail? I keep hearing that top half is an achievement with this squad. Which minus one player who lots in here raged against and says is crap, and a few of benitez' own additions, it's the same squad. So if benitez gets 10th, has he failed?

We looked good under ancelotti when he had few injuries and most of his full team, we looked poor when he had an injury crisis. If we accept benitez has an injury crisis now of 3 players, and we aren't getting many points because mina, doucoure and dcl are out, when they are back after international break, then we will be winning most games right?
Yes he failed failed miserably, a terrible Everton manager, 10th place? pathetic, Koeman 8th, Roberto 5th, Koeman and Big Sam Sam 8th, Silva didnt have a chance, Moyes regular top 6, you can re write history as much as you like but he was our worst manager based on stats for many years, the brief Walter had because of the mess of the club was just to stay up, HK2 and 3 dont count for obvious reasons, Big Joe won a cup, Carlo was our worst failure of a mamager since Walker

If we finish 11th or below is Benitez our worst failure of a manager then since Walker?

I did watch the Tottenham game and the summary is fair. Tried hard but little quality when attacking.

I do think that had to do with the crowd being on their back from the kick off because we didn't see that reaction away to Wolves after losing 2 in a row.
We all knew the players have a poor mentality when things go bad. I hope we can be a little patient because it takes time to change. Hugs man. I sense a breakthrough and we can discuss things sensibly even though we can have differences in opinion.

No, not with his 1.7m budget anyway, besides he has to pick up the mess Brands and Carlo have made, so no, Carlo has damaged us nearly as much as Koeman, add to that how other clubs have moved forward while we went backwards no, a top 8 finish is getting harder and harder

I’m not talking about top 8. I’m asking 11th or below. Surely 11th or below, with the same squad as last season, makes him worse, no? Simple logic really. The teams around us last year: Leeds, Villa, Spurs are all worse this year.

Least you agree Carlo was our worst failure since Walker, however this season Everton expect to be between 12th and 9th, there are 8 teams who really should be ahead of us so were in that crap bang average midtable group of nothing sides playing for basically nothing more then a legal obligation to fulfill fixtures. Dont forget this is year one of a minimum of three years we want from him, so next season is the main one, this is just about stability and the books

Want to hear my views? Any season not ending up as champion is a failure. And then you analyse why. Was it the players? Was it the coaching? Was it the scouting and recruitment? Was it injuries? Was it the manager? And then you find solutions. What changes can be made that will improve the team. We already knew problems existed before Benitez. The same problems are here. Go for the overhaul at the end of the season. If a better player is available, buy him. If a better coach is available, sign him. If a better manager is available, sign him too. That works for you?

Based on stats, In this case finish position as did he not have our highest win percentage of any manager in the premier league era?.

How has he damaged us nearly as much as koeman? He got us a top half finish improving year on year after taking over when we were in dire straights.
One of his signings is already gone. Allan is an important player for us. Doucoure and Godfrey are Brands signings (as has been discussed by carlo and brands) But if you want to still include them and say he spent 40m on them, bear in mind one of which is now seen as our most important player.

I mean, you still haven't answered my question.

Not really mate.

Ancelotti ranks third highest in the list of Everton managers based on win % (46.27). Only Catterick and H K in front of him.

What is our model? Start a project and then rip it up every other season and start again.

Right now we need to get rid of the deadwood who don't contribute anything and start adding depth to the squad before we can begin to develop.
Isn't that the model you derided precisely 1 sentence earlier?

P.S. The Southampton model that you sneered at in your OP is precisely 1 point behind our Benitez inspired "project" we currently have at our club.

They're still sticking with their model. Buying young, developing players. But they've become a selling club. Which isn't sustainable if you want to break the top 4.

Would fans be happy here to buy young, play attacking football, but finish 13th to 15th every season, whilst selling our best players once they've developed.
Well, we spend a fortune on old players who couldn't give a toss to finish 8th to 12th every year whilst bankrupting the club and never selling anyone (we just release them or loan them out). Playing attacking football and having players other teams want to buy sounds like a step in the right direction to me. Or we could carry on giving fat cloggers like Rondon multi-year contracts to casually stroll about doing nothing.
