Do you believe that?

In the middle of a pandemic we surely are not letting anyone with flu symptoms on club premises nevermind starting them in a game of footy.

That was the most bizarre thing from Benitez yesterday.
Are we talking about actual influenza or flu like symptons that in reality are a cold or a mild virus? There is also the wonder of PCR and LF tests.

If he even had any symptoms I would hope the club would be take precautions seriously and have him stay home.

I don't believe he had the flu for a second.
A private PCR test would in the absolute majority of cases identify COVID within twenty-four hours. Also, like I said, are we saying actual flu or a heavy cold?

It is autumn and heading towards winter, so it's not uncommon nor unlikely for people to come down with heavy colds or mild viruses at this time of year.

Yet, people for whatever reason call it 'the flu' - what I suspect here. He has possibly been under the weather and fatigued. If it's the flu, you're in bed for a week.

The PCR tests have given false negatives haven't they? Without getting into all of that I'll just say I am highly skeptical of that answer from Benitez.

With covid he would have been nowhere near the squad. But with such a massive injury crisis, we surely wouldn't take the risk of flu passing around the team either.

As even if allan only had it lightly, he couldn't see out the game. Imagine if another 10 players caught it, and none of them could see out the game or many of them had it worse. Then what do we do?

Yes there's false negatives, but that's a risk that will be part of a wider COVID strategy. Anyway, away from COVID and whatnot.

Rafael said he had the flu, whereas he has probably meant that he has a cold or mild virus like so many real world people do - a miscommunication.

We're talking about a person for who English is not their primary language, so it's likely just an example of lost in translation not a trip down the rabbit hole.

Hope you are right. Hopefully noone else catches it as only a 2 week turnaround between games to recover.

I can, league position and honours.

Joe Royle was a better Everton manager than Carlo Ancelotti in both of these metrics.

That's fine. Each to their own.

I happen to think managerial comparisons are for the schoolyard ... far too many variables to compare fairly. Simply responding to the chap's pretty ropey argument.
