Ah the good old Sam saved us from relegation in December one.
At the start of big Sam's first game in charge. We were 13th with 15 points from 14 games and 5 points clear of the relegation zone.

At the start of Carlos first game in charge. We were 15th with 19 points from 18 games and only 4 points clear of the relegation zone.

Ironically, if we view city and Liverpool as "Expected losses" then by the argument that big Sam saved us, benitez has to get something vs brentford or we are supposedly getting relegated. And should be sacked.

That is exactly it. Many posted even when ancelotti took over that even if he hit the jackpot with every signing it was a minimum 3 years. Thats how poor this mob were/are.
I think the fact that so late in the season we were still in serious contention for a CL place was credit to ancelotti. Even though it was dire to watch.
Every Evertonian knew deep down though we wasnt good enough.
We still have a large core of bottle job merchants with no winners mentality at all.
Iwobi being the absolute worst of the lot.

If we’re crediting Ancelotti with being in contention for top 4 at that point in the season, then we must blame him for the utter collapse that left us nowhere near it in the end. A lot of things fell into place last season to give us the best chance we’ve had in ages to at least secure Europe, and we ended up barely in the top half. A dismal season and the biggest wasted opportunity in years.

Some on here have no memory of a proper relegation scrap when they say silly things. 93/94 and 97/98 were relegation worry seasons.

Everton players collapsing is nothing new when anything good is within touching distance. Been there done that with numerous managers.
A case for for and against can be made down the years on many things. Like when leicester won the league. But you're still there and doing it. Fact is we havent been that late on in the season for years.
But i digest
This was all about a benitez lover trying to sway opinion.
No need. It is was it is. He's here.
For now.

As soon as results jeopardize Moshiri's ( & his cuddly mate ) investment he will be bulleted , same as Silva & Koeman.

He wouldnt think twice about it.
Which maybe part of the problem, sometimes some second thoughts and reflection might pay dividends...
and sometimes you have to decide not to reinforce failure, going early is the easy option...getting a better out come is the hard part.

I have no intention of defending Benitez, I’m not particularly a fan of him or his style of management but like you said he’s here so it is what it is, he’s here because our owner brought him in and will get rid of him when he wants. I just see red whenever anyone suggests Ancelotti did a good job here.

A manager hasn't done a good job here since Moyes and maybe Martinez if you use the term 'good job' as loosely as possible. Who cares if he's a kopite? He can sing YNWA every match and kiss a picture of Bill Shankley as long as he brings us success. At the end of the day, it's a job for most people involved in football, us the fans are the only ones who have an emotional investment in football (even if some managers, like Ancelotti and Benitez, will pretend they have an emotional investment.) I don't care if a manager 'gets us', goodness, thats the same tripe Blue Bill would trot out after another horrible season. If we judge him as if he is doing a job he is doing satisfactory. When he is not doing a job that is satisfactory, we can complain. Hating him for managing Liverpool is incredibly childish and is reminiscent of the goblins across the park.

There’s a world of difference between the football played so far this season and the football played at the start of 17/18 and 18/19, an absolute world of difference. We’ve had a few lifeless performances this season last quarter of the Villa game when we imploded, Watford game, first half of the wolves game. The rest has been pretty much ok and at times good. In the other two seasons we were a shambles almost every game. We went 1 up against a terrible Arsenal under Koeman and everyone in the ground knew we’d still lose, that’s how bad it was.

I know some people will never move past their hatred of Benitez, but he’s not getting fired this season, some people need to get over it.

If we'd signed Zaha in the January window we'd have made the CL never mind the Europa.

As is dismissing him in no time at all.
Everton fans dismissing a kopite manager is suspect in what way exactly?

I havent called for him to get the boot btw, we need to stop changing managers every two years and since the club hired him, he should get at least a full season unless we look like relegation fodder. Sucks for the fans, but thats nothing new for Evertonians.

He was neither brilliant or a total failure.
The job to both of them is horrendous due to whats been assembled here for them to work with.
It has got a bit mad on here though with certain benitez apologists and double entendre posts.
I still dont see this one ending well.
