Is it really that divisive? I see maybe 5 to 10 vocal posters vehemently against him that it seems to break their heart when Everton win. Maybe 3 to 5 posters vocally supporting him. Then the majority understand the situation with FFP, the past wasteful transfers, the incompetence throughout the club, the injuries and is willing to give him time while reserving judgement. And that's just GOT.

Brief glance of other boards, most are supportive of him and understand that he needs time to make sweeping changes in the club and squad. A few posters against but willing to acknowledge he needs time and he's doing alright so far and even fewer that is totally against but they aren't as vocal as some of you here.

Name me a single manager who does not have some fans who dislike him. No manager has ever existed who has 100% support. Do you call that "divisive"? Change the name of Benitez to another manager, there will always be a group of fans who wants to get rid. Is that "divisive"?

The difference with Benitez is it isn’t about results, it’s about who he is. There are posters on here that have explicitly stated that even if he won the FA Cup they’d want him gone. To me that means that yes, the mere fact that he is our manager is divisive, regardless of results.

I understand your point. That does make sense. Cheers.

I understand that being a fan is an emotional investment for many people and it is very hard for people to remain logical or fair while being emotional.

Do you always want everton to win every game? You've never wanted us to lose of it would mean a manager getting sacked?
Ill be honest i didnt want us to win against Man City when Barkley scored that great goal early on, but regardless we didnt stand a chance anyway in that game, it was a done deal before it kicked off

If benitez has us on 15 points after 14 games. The point at which allardyce was hired and you believed saved us from relegation. Would you believe we need saving from relegation now and that benitez has us in a relegation scrap?

Yes, a bit hypothetical and I know it doesn't take into account injuries etc, and hopefully he gets some more points so isnt in that position but just interested.
I would believe he is the best person to save us from relegation, not the reason we are in that fight, put it this way, if we did get in that situation who else would do a better job

Why didn’t we? We were flying at the time.
No they were levels ahead of us and won with ease, we didnt even roll over, not that players ever look at those type of situations like fans, but regardless the majority were happy to not win that game, even the celebration when Barkley scored was a bit weak

I do not think Benitez is the favorite manager of any Everton supporters. So ok, it's allowed to be a little angry. But then you have to look at the realities. The Ancelotti project was the last breath before reality caught up with us. There is a limit to how long you can keep buying mediocre overpriced players with expensive salaries, and which have no resale value without any consequences. The same can be said about the frequent manager changes, etc.

In general, there is a lot that does not work properly in this club. Perhaps the most important job Benitez does is not on the pitch, but the one that takes place outside. I suspect that we are far behind those we want to compete with in areas such as training physiology, injury prevention, football science, data analysis, psychology, nutritional physiology, etc. All that a top club should be at the forefront of.

So I do not care much if we get a 15th place or ninth place this season, as long as we start to address all these variables. Something that I have got the impression that Benitez has started with. Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better, you have to shake things up and establish a whole new culture.

To do this, I do not think Benitez is the worst manager we could hire, although it was not the manager I was hoping for, but perhaps the most realistic in terms of experience, knowledge and passion for the game.

I cant see it, this squad isnt going to be injured until the end of the season, even we cant be that unlucky, we really wont be in a relegation fight
I do think that Moshiri and Benitez must have gone through all the possible scenarios for this season and both probably have an agreement that Benitez will be given free reign to make changes for at least this season and will not be sacked short of relegation battle in March. Next season, Benitez has to show improvement to earn a new contract to lead Everton out of BMD.

It's not unlucky. It is a combination of a crap manager and a few injuries.

1 win in 8 form tells me where we're heading.
I do agree its going to get worse before it gets better, and it is a worry, but the state of the whole club is the big picture, which has been rotting for years

I don’t see us in a relegation fight, but, I am not clairvoyant, I will say this much though, should we find ourselves in a relegation fight, Moshiri will pull the trigger. He can’t help himself, it’s what he does. For what it’s worth, my opinion is unless we fall into the bottom 4 or 5, Benitez’ job is not in danger, Moshiri wants to save money, not spend it paying off another manager.

Bottom line, I think he was a very ill judged appointment, his time here will always be a troubled divisive period in our history, but, we are stuck with him now and unless he becomes an unmitigated disaster he will be given at least 18 months.
