Right, but 12 months later.

... and so on and so on...

On this date 12 months ago the Ancelotti thread was clogged with people calling him a clueless dinosaur too. It's what happens with bad runs. All we know for sure is whenever we pull the trigger on a manager, or they walk out on us, the high manager turnover does us no favours whatsoever.

It's not the bad run it's the fact that the manager stands there clueless on the sidelines.

To quote Theresa May, "nothing has changed". We've took 31 points from the last 26 games, regardless of manager. This squad is hopeless. It's not because of Benitez.

But, apparently we had a terrible end to last season and a fantastic start to this season according to the pro-Benitez lobby?

Ancelotti pulled three miracle results out and got 9 points and completely changed the situation.

Ancelotti is a world class manager. He got more out of these cowards than most would, and that stretch proved it more than any other. He had the benefit of playing fewer games by this point in the season, but he got the most out of the situation because of how good a coach he is.

But we have to face facts here - we're not getting anyone like Ancelotti replacing Benitez. So the problem is if we replace Benitez you are rolling the dice big time on someone with lesser experience overall or no experience of the league, managing a bunch of clowns and facing a relegation fight.

On the flip side bringing fresh ideas in usually gives you bounce. Also what manager survives runs of one win in ten or eleven these days? I agree we need stability I could live with Benitez as of course it's not all his fault and the situation with FFP but we also need a level of performance we haven't been getting that it's on players and manager. Benitez never strikes me as someone who is desperate for a result in every match and the players seem to mirror that it's very dangerous when we aren't that good that relegation isn't a threat.

We both know it doesn't work that way, so with people calling him 'useless' you have to look at the data we have to see if he is.

The data shows he's basically working with the same bunch of tossers that always perform this way. You can go back the previous season too, 2019/20 - won 4, 2 draws, 7 losses, 14 points by this stage of the season, even worse than now. Last 13 games - 4 wins, 5 losses, 4 draws, 16 points, exact same as Ancelotti last season.

The data always shows the same thing - this squad, regardless of manager, with three managers to go by, are always the same.

If we give him 38 games there is a very strong possibility we get relegated, nobody should be prepared to risk that to prove their stat game is boss.

We did, if "start" means six games. We had the same 13 game end to 19/20 and the same 6 game start to 20/21. Near enough identical.

The results then fall off a cliff. They did for Ancelotti and Benitez.

It doesn't but what if the Benitez appointment was always a mistake? Because essentially we are desperate for stability but having a manager a large section hate from the start is never going to produce stability unless he is over performing? Many said it when he was appointed, as soon as we hit a bad run many will want him out.

But you're not looking at the data objectively. You're cherry picking Ancelotti's worst run and comparing that to Benitez. When it was pointed out to you that 59 points is what this squad acquired last season you say that doesn't count. You are the one manipulating the data to suit your point. It's called operator bias.
