They were genuinely fuming that they didn’t go down last season and actively hoping we batter them because Benitez is our manager, never seen anything like it.

I hope you absolutely cane us and Bruce gets constant abuse from the stands!

The point is, it's not "us." It's not the club I support; it's Mike Ashley FC and there's a not-insignificant percentage of supporters who would sooner see this version of the club burn down, than stumble year after year through meaningless seasons, deliberately setting out to achieve nothing.

To the poster who mentioned the Saudis were having us on; that's not true, the sale was agreed and deposit paid (£17mill), it was just the PL who wouldn't let it go through.

Anyways, apologies for the further derailment. Rafael's had a good start but Nuno seems like the obvious choice for MotM. Pleased to see him doing well, even if it is at Spurs; thought he was unlucky in his last season at Wolves; lost all his goals in Jimenez and Jota.

Was it not Mike Ashley FC when Benitez was your manager too though? You were going nowhere under him too, you haven’t actually gone backwards under Bruce. What’s Bruce done to deserve that level of abuse other than have the audacity to accept a job offer?

Mike Ashley is the greatest thing that’s happened to you lot. He’s given you everything you asked and you’ve spat it back in his face

To be included with those managers is pretty solid, All the other managers either have better players to work with or have built a squad with time and money.
Not a bad start for Benitez though. I can see us being like old Everton now though, beat most of the sides below us but struggle with the real top sides....just like we were with Moyes. So probably a top 10 finish...maybe 8th, can't really see us going any higher due to unlucky lengthy injury lists that are just waiting to happen.
If we finish in the top 10, then i'd be happy enough with that. Hopefully we'll put together a run in the cups though. I just hope it won't be another typical Everton season, where we are out of both cup competitions by the end of January, with our season pretty much over. That would be really depressing!

An owner who is happy enough with just finishing mid table every year, and who wants to keep spendings on players and infrastructure, to the bare minimum. I think Newcastle fans have every right to complain. I thought the abuse, the geordies gave to Alan Pardew was a bit nasty though. But then again Pardew is a cnut anyway. lol

Why?

They have all won 2 and drawn 1.

Moyes also spent nearly 70 mil. Tuchel spent nearly 100 mil on 1 player.

Just style of play for me. Tuchel has won at Arsenal and gone to Liverpool and got an easy draw with Liverpool with 10 men. That is a better achievement.

As for West Ham, Moyes didn't inherit a squad that had 500+ million spent on it like Benny, so you can't really expect him to match performance.

Ashley grew tired of Benitez buying absolute dirge, getting nowhere and tightened the purse strings. There's an interview with Mike Ashley that says this somewhere or other.

But that doesn't fit into Benitez's or the Geordies narrative.
