The small flaw is omitting to factor in that the appointment of Benitez and lurch in direction itself is the product of the owners ad hoc solution. There is no long term thought or plan behind it. It’s just the latest in a long line of short sighted decisions.

Look at the man’s style of play. Consider that he’s going to gut the football club and fill it with players and staff for this style. That’s the vision?

Nobody wants to watch this style of football and when he goes (regardless of whether it’s sooner or later) guarantee you we don’t appoint a similarly defensively minded manager. We’ll probably appoint a more possession based attacking manager and he’ll then have to change everything all over again.

That’s why Rafael’s appointment is so as hoc, so short sighted, so tedious, so difficult to support.
