Contrary to popular belief Kendall’s first 2 seasons were nothing like as bad as this and, even though it was before the Sky Generation, I can well remember being given handouts before games calling for his dismissal. Make no mistake, if Kendall had been as bad as Benitez is proving, he would have been sacked. Yes Everton held their nerve with Kendall as did Utd. with Ferguson, but, neither of them looked as far out of touch and out of their depth as Benitez currently does.
And Kendall’s team had shown lots of flashes of good football even in the terrible run in the first part of 1983-84 season. They were young and not the finished article who needed a couple of old heads to help them build on the good flashes.

It's interesting that your strategy for supporting Benitez is to point out other struggling managers and reflect that we are doing slightly less badly than they are. Slippy G has won four games out of six since arriving at Villa, that's only one win fewer than Benitez has managed in 16. Care to compare Benitez with his former captain or does that not fit your narrative.

It exactly fits my narrative. Down to a tee. Just carries on the trend of rushing towards the next PL manager who has won a few games. Last season it was Hasenhuttl, Bielsa, Smith, Rodgers, Potter. Look where some of them are now. I bet Gerrard will be in a world of pain in 12 months time because most premier league managers outside the top 6 are at some point. Which just reinforces my point that there’s no miracle silver bullet manager who is going to impose some new progressive philosophy on these players and suddenly have them flying and building year after year. The players are rubbish. A lot best another manager might get a brief spark out of them but then they’d just revert to the mean just like Southamptons did, just like Villas did, just like Leeds have. Changing manager only loses us money we can’t afford to lose and starts yet another cycle all over again.

He's been proved right over Richarlison.

Never wanted him in the first place but he's not the main issue and I will never believe he is while that fraud moshiri is dragging us down.

The people defending Benitez need to realise that we KNOW the team is crap, we KNOW the recruitment has been awful and we KNOW we have had injuries. But there are 2 basic things that are unacceptable with this manager.

1. Set pieces. Conceding almost every week when the same personnel dealt with them far better last year. We must be the only team in the league not to score from one either.

2. Style of play. Palace had 68% possession in the first half. Crystal Palace! We sit off and are so negative.
When we’ve inevitably conceded and have to chase a game and play on the front foot, we are far better. This has happened time and time again - Southampton, Burnley, Wolves, Palace, Brentford, Arsenal etc etc but the manager still sends us out on the back foot. He won’t change because every time he manages anywhere, it’s all about his ego. Always will be.

I would literally rather have anyone instead of him at this point. We are on the poorest run of results and performances in about 3 decades so its not really going to be that hard to do better than that is it. Only Everton could take a month to decide who to go for, then go against the majority of the supporters with an ex kopite who is supposed to be so called safe option and end up with the worst performances in 3 decades. We are that bad now that we cannot even get over 30% possession against the likes of Palace and get trounced by them and they were below us at the time.

What a kin season.

Hopefully this is what happens after we get walloped on Thursday.

The tactics against Palace were infuriating. They have just lost 3 in a ‘kin row and are a piss poor team. We sat off them and let them come at us, how can you ‘counter-attack’ when you can’t defend?

I want a manager who installs aggressiveness into the team, a man motivator. Nobody is motivated by this washed up dinosaur!

We'll need a stronger catapult.
