To be fair this where negative football comes into its own, grinding out unlikely results against far superior teams.
We needed that point.
Still can’t be bothered watching it for innumerable seasons though.
Hopefully he will trust the youngsters a bit more going forward as I thought they acquitted themselves well.
Oh , and can we boot Rondon out of the club now? ? , he isn’t needed,

Cemented in position for the season...when it resumes...IF it resumes.

He needs to stamp his authority on the squad now.

Get his own players in.

There's a fair few playing for him here as tonight suggests. But he needs a clean out.

Drew with United away
Beat Arsenal at home
Drew with Chelsea away

We have something to build on here.
And spurs home. He has made some mistakes this season but none other than previous managers who had better squads to pick from. Ultimately results will be what he is judged on but He needs more time with some new players.

He got it right and the team fought hard but Chelsea had 80% possession and 23 shots. If they could have hit a barndoor we would have got ripped apart. As much as we were missing players, they missed Lukaku, Havertz, Werner, Kante, Kovacic etc.
Not defending Benitez at all here but, that Chelsea team should still have had enough to beat us. He did get right for once. players deserve credit for the effort put it.

First of all am sorry to all you fans who wanted to see the team lose in order to push Benitez closer to the exit door.. he ain’t going anywhere soon so suck it up and get used to it.

Regarding tonites game.. it was a bit of a free hit because nobody was expecting anything due to the gulf in class especially given the injury situation. What I will say is that type of game and situation is probably what Benitez strenghth is, he seems to know how to set a team up against superior opposition much like his teams did in past European games. There was something else I noticed, these younger players all seemed to want to run through brick walls for this manager, they chased lost causes and they never gave up, it’s like they really wanted to repay him for picking them and showing faith in them and long may that continue.
Looking further ahead if we can, next game is in ten days time and with a bit of luck the injury situation might look a bit better, the games on paper seem a bit easier and we now know some of these younger players can be trusted.... surely that’s a positive thing to take forward.

Well done Rafael.
