It's not selecting 10 specific games. It's selecting the last 10.

Do you not think our form is abysmal? A few results at the beginning of the season (results not performances) seem to have convinced you he is doing a good job.

I look at the league table. Are we in the bottom 3? No. Therefore is it sensible to fire a manager who has walked into a basket case of 7 year old problems, and been given 1.7 mill to spend? Probably not.

That’s all there is to it. I didn’t think results would be good this season because they’ve not been for years. I’m not happy where we are in the table. I want the deep rooted problems at the club fixed. But paying 20 million to swap a manager out to get in another one who will have exactly the same problems to fix doesn’t seem sensible to me. Managers need time, unless they are leading us to relegation. The league table doesn’t show that so the sensible thing to do in my view is just let him get on with the job and not inflict another managerial upheaval on the club.

One thing that impresses me about Benitez is the way he talks with the young players about their game, Gordon , Branthwaite and Simms have mentioned this recently and in the aftermath of last night‘s game he could be seen talking animatedly to Dobbin , moving his hands and looking like the conversation was all about what he’d just achieved ,what more is expected of him. You’d expect that of most managers , but it seems a long time, maybe back to Martinez , since we’ve had somebody do this.
That's because he sees players as chess pieces, and himself as a grand master. If you're a young player that's fine, but you need to be able to manage different personalities in the EPL and I'm not sure he can.

The thought of Benitez actually being handed money to spend terrifies me. Have you seen his list of transfers at Newcastle?

Sadly it's probably going to happen.
My point is, if he's swapping Tom Davies for Sean Longstaff does it really impact the club in the medium term? Only if he sells one of our better players will it worry me.

We’ve barely finished in the bottom half in any season in the last 7

I'm not going to lie, I haven't seen either of Simms or Dobbin a whole lot. But I did think that Dobbin was the more impressive. I think he has something to work with and is that modern type of forward with decent pace and dribbling ability.
Different type of players , Dobbin is fast , mobile , skilful , but slight , scores goals but not prolific, Simms is big , robust , quite speedy for his size and really has been a prolific goalscorer at lower levels League1 , U23s, u18. Neither are ready to be regular PL starters , both need work and it’ll be up to Benitez and his team to make sure they progress.

just imagine for a minute being in the situation where the players are all behind the manager... chasing lost causes, running through brick walls and showing a never say die attitude or throwing the towel in when going behind.. bit like the displays against Arsenal and last night.. imagine all the staff behind the scenes pulling in the same direction all believing in the new transformation that is obviously going on behind the scenes to rid the club of past incompetence..

How would you feel with all that going on and the only thing which is hindering it or stopping the club moving forward is a certain element of the fanbase who can’t forgive a manager for managing its rivals and constantly keep putting obstacles in the way and making it harder for the manager to do his job and creating a worse environment for those younger players who performed so well last night to thrive and grow in...

Just think it’s a shame fans can’t look at the big picture and lay off the manager until the summer give him a transfer window or two then see where the team is.. this constant conflict is only making it harder for the team and staff to do there jobs.. pretty sure a better more positive atmosphere has more chance of getting a team results than the other way.

How in any way does a fanbase put obstacles in the way of the teams’ success? They travel, they cheer, they boo, that’s it. Hilarious how much importance is placed on fans whenever we go through a rough spell. Talking out of your hoop as per.

Well on the positive side, Benitez does have a longstanding reputation for developing and improving young players.

Oh no, hang on....

What an absolute pile of horse turd you just wrote.

Did you watch the Palace game? Did you see any of those mythical things you just wrote about?

This is the problem, we get the occasional good result and people like you go OTT.

6 points out of 36 not telling you anything?

Are you blind?

The reason the vast majority are now AGAINST the manager is pure and simply down to results.

Its down to poor team selection, tactics and substitutions during games that he's lost the confidence of the fanbase.

A leader takes ownership of his mistakes. Not once, have I seen him do anything but point the finger at anybody but himself.

If he admitted his own wrongdoing, I wouldn't have turned on him and would have gave him longer.

The fact that during the hard times I see him deflecting blame and showing ego-maniac traits is unacceptable to me

If I can summarise the last 10 pages

Some want Simms and Dobbin over Rondon - This is a sentiment I agree with but IF RB starts Rondon and after 60 mins he is done, they can come on instead of Rondon (Who I do not rate in the slightest) getting 90. Personally I`d start Simms over Rondon and Dobbin over Iwobi wide, Dobbin has a bit of pace and direct, Iwobi is, well everything that has been said before.

Relegation form - Clearly 9 points from the last 39 available is the worst run in the premier league bar none, clearly if this carries on we will no doubt be in a relegation scrap as other teams pick up more points than us.

Being positive that is 4 points from the last 3 games which includes Chelsea, Arsenal and Palace. We havent turned the corner yet, we need to keep the pressure on to perform.

Lots of positives against Chelsea, massive games coming up against Burnley away and Newcastle at home, win them and it would help us no end. The Leicester game has been posponed so that gives the squad 10 days to get fit and recuperate and get our players back. I expect a much stronger side next time we turn out at Burnley, always a tough place to go.

As I said, made up that the youngsters got a chance AND DELIVERED, which if he was honest RB wasnt expecting. I suspect it was more a case of "You want the kids, have the kids away at Chelsea" and they have proved him and everyone wrong. No doubt he will take all the credit though...

Im still in the Rafael out camp as I dont think he has performed as he should EVEN with injuries taking in to account, he is reluctant to use youth until last night and I`m sure it will go back to being that way. I will give him the benefit of the doubt should he deliver the top 7 place he said he WILL get and gets less realistic with every week.

As I said earlier in the thread, good result but lets keep our feet on the floor, yes 4 points from the last 9 but it is still 9 points from the last 39. This needs to improve!

We were (before yesterday, not sure how that impacts the stats) on our worst run in TWENTY SEVEN YEARS.

Answer me this: Since the worst run in over a quarter of a century (a quarter century when we've not exactly been pulling up trees) isn't enough to make the penny drop, how bad would it actually need to get for you to realise that we'll go nowhere under this manager? Worst run in 40 years? 50? 100? Actual relegation?

Utter nonsense.

If the team is performing well and winning games of togger Benitez will have all the time in the world.

If hes not, he should be out on his ear as any other manager would be. He gets no special treatment.

If he wasnt briefing the media about players then there would a better atmosphere I'm sure.
