Ok mate.

See that last line - vice versa?

That's you.

Maybe if you're going to slate him when things go bad, then be fair about it and also give him his share of the credit when it goes right.

This is you last night telling everyone Benitez can't take any credit for the result last night;

Personally, I think it's a healthy trait to try and offer balance - to have an open mind.

It's boring and tedious to "decide where you stand and be consistent"

It's football.
I'll heap praise on him the second he does somthing to justify it. Nobody will be happier then me if we start winning or at least playing well most weeks but I'm not going to pretend that a 1-1 draw at Chelsea changes anything. I didn't tell everyone that Benitez couldn't take credit. I said I'm not sure he can take any credit because he was effectively forced into selecting the players that made the difference and I maintain that. If we win a few games and stop looking like relegation fodder 99% of the time I'll happily praise Benitez for his part in that but right now it's one win in eleven games and I'm not seeing much to praise him for.

He did very well today. Probably his best performance since hes been here. The 541 was the right call, we were set up well, and he managed the game excellently too.

There is a question though, of where have some of these lads been this season. I mean, Simms and Dobbin showed a lot more than Rondon has.

I hope it's a watershed moment for him. Some of that is sticking to 541.
I think Rondon in his last two games has looked alright and is a better bet right now than either Simms or Dobbin

I don't think there is nearly as much resistance to RB as you Imagine.

Certainly he has come under severe pressure but any manager would after our run of results.

Can you imagine the pressure Graham Potter would have been under if appointed.

Strangely, I think the Arsenal and Chelsea results together with the crippling injury situation has somehow managed to strengthen his position rather than weaken it.
To be honest I think there is far more pressure on Benitez than there would another manager.. remember the bed sheets before his feet were even under the desk.. you have already seen this season even after good results and promising performances there were still many who never gave him credit or a chance.. even last nights performance if you read the posts there are still some that are saying it’s was in spite of Benitez not because of him the performance was good..
the man is on a hiding to nothing with so many fans who simply won’t forgive.. they would rather have the team be poor in order to validate there points he should not be manager.

I made a point in an earlier post of why I think fans should take part of the blame and I will stick with it..
The fans can decide what sort of environment the team plays in each week with the atmosphere they create.. if it’s hostile towards the manager and what he’s trying to do then it will make it much more difficult for players to do well in especially younger ones who need confidence.

All I know is if some fans were a bit more understanding to what has gone on last six or seven years and why the Club has appointed Benitez after grilling him and his ambitions for the club about 15 times before giving him the job they will surely see this is no over night fix.. the long game needs to be played given the clubs situation. 1.7 million spent.. worst injury and sickness situation, one transfer window and four previous managers players all predominantly in the first eleven Is hardly fair to judge somebody especialy since he has been here less than six months.

I'm just hoping for enough of the injured to come back so we never have to play Iwobi again

The manager loses me when he continues to play him with no reasonable excuse

Not exactly the resistance against Benitez?

Nah, there absolutely is and rightly so, he's dead poor.

Yesterday was good though. Both things can be true.

I don't want our immediate or long-term future in the hands of this man though.

The Benitez acolytes need to decide where they stand on this whole thing and be consistent about it.

It's the same after every single positive results. He's hailed as a tactical genius and hero that is singlehandedly keeping the club afloat in the face of an impossible situation. He's literally the only manager on the whole planet that's available to us that could achieve such results.

Meanwhile every time we lose and/or play badly the same people will ferociously argue that none of it is his fault. He can't be held accountable for any of it. He's just a helpless bystander and that's doing his best to build a rocket ship using wood and superglue. There's absolutely no point in sacking him because the next manager would also be just as powerless.

Well make up your minds people, which is it?!

He's not above criticism ffs. If you're gonna heap praise on him when things go right then be fair about it and also give him his share of the blame when it goes wrong.
Don't think anyone is saying he is great. The theme is to give him time. 1.7m spent, inherited a poor squad and stuck with it,so we have to see who he can bring in and get rid off and this can only partly be done in January. I think the big misconception is that anyone who wants to see him given a bit of time is a Benitez lover and that is not the case. That is a label given by Benitez haters

The positives were the result and the unexpected point and also that some younger lads got a chance due to the ridiculous injury list.

Bet come on, 19% possession? Like I wrote last night, you’d expect a division 2 team to get those sort of stats.
I mean we had under 30% v Palace didn't we?

I can't complain about not being able to keep the ball last night, with that team, against Chelsea. But issue is we do it in most games.

I can stomach given someone time if he'd shown anything that remotely suggested he was the right pick.

We're on a run of 2 wins in 14 games in all comps. The footy is absolutely atrocious. His ego makes him fall out with players. We're in desperate need of a right-back yet he wants to go and spend £20m on a 22-year-old left-back from Ukraine and seemingly punt our very good left-back out of the club in the middle of the season. He chased Rondon all summer.

The fans ultimately protested the other week against the board because the club were on a horrific run. Now, they were right to protest against the board but the irony is, if Benitez was better at his job, there'd have been no protest. And all those protests resulted in were Benitez (at least in the short term) getting full control at Everton football club.
