I already said it was a valiant effort. I simply said we got battered, which we did, and no praise should land on Benitez’s doorstep for that as if it was all intended. Unless he really is a master tactician to know Chelsea would fluff in front of goal.

I don't know, I think it's a slippery slope to exclude the manager from any praise and put it all on the players, plus vice versa

C’mon Mikey, on another day that could have ended 4/5-1. If Lukaku would have played it would have been game over.

The players played well, but there was still gaping holes that Chelsea played through. The position of the players when they’re defending still doesn’t look right to me. There not as compact as they should be.

They played their arses off

Does he not deserve some credit for motivating them?

If they played like they couldn't care then he certainly would be criticised so shouldn't the reverse be true as well?

The problem is though Mikey when we've been crap it's never down to Benitez in the eyes of his acolytes it's always down to the players being crap, not arsed etc.

Because the club is run like a second hand shop off Wavertree Road in the mid 70's so yes it needs to be ripped down and re assess with a short, medium and long term plan adhered to, from culture, values recruitment to wages.
That doesn't answer the question though, which was 'Can someone explain to me how Benitez has earned the right to tear this club and structure apart?'

Thing is, I gave him credit for them putting in effort. We still got battered and if not for pickford and some poor Chelsea finishing, we would have been 4/5 down in the first half. The same way we could have been against saints and Burnley etc.

The issue is, when we lose, his fans put it down to a mistake by Coleman, or Keane or Godfrey etc. Even benitez friends in the media are doing that. When we win, it's benitez tactics, and getting a reaction from them, not down to the players scoring a worldie out of nothing.

Like the Burnley game, all the credit went to benitez for his sub. Despite the fact we equalised before the sub from a set piece. And townsend scored a worldie.

It works both ways and the frustration comes from certain posters making out he is infallible.

And so long as both sides of the argument are trying to gouge the others' eyes out we'll keep going around in circles over and over again

Well neither view is right IMO

This divisive battling between both sides isn't helping

This is why he shouldn’t be our manager. There is no result he will ever get credit for, if we won the FA Cup he wouldn’t get any credit. Our fans just don’t like him and won’t have him. It’s best he’s gone sooner rather than later so we can move on from this never ending circle jerk.
