A win would do so much for confidence and moral, so for a lot of reasons three points are a must today. I feel this is a top 10/12 team at best. I don't think it's acceptable, for us to be down around 15th/16th.

Tottenham is a fair call. Arsenal is miles off and, in my opinion, Chelsea's European trophies far outweigh the few titles difference between us. Winning a title 2 centuries ago is worth less than a Champion's league. Besides, they've won loads of domestic cups too.

Like it or not, Arsenal and Chelsea are bigger clubs than we are.

Yes, agreed, we need to give love a chance. Starting by being kinder to Senor Benitez and each other.

I will judge Benitez by his results, and so far they just aren't up to scratch.

I mean there can be no debate tbf if arsenal or Chelsea are bigger clubs than us, with spurs we might historically be bigger but nowadays they are a bigger club than us, if you’d ask anyone outside our fanbase they’d say the same

Arsenal have 13 titles, 14 fa cups, 2 league cups, 1 intercity fairs & 1 Euro cwc.

Chelsea have 6 titles, 8 fa cups, 5 league cups, 2 champions leagues, 2 Europa leagues & 2 Euro cwc.

We have 9 titles, 5 fa cups, & 1 Euro cwc.

Our 15 trophies pale into insignificance compared to the hauls of Arsenal and Chelsea. Half of our domestic trophies were won before WWII. That doesn't make us a bigger club it makes us an old club.

How has this argument about how big Everton are as a club arisen?

Did someone call us a small club again? That's the only link I can see to Benitez. Can't imagine he'd do that nowadays (he's all about the love these days, went to Big Ron's academy).

Respectfully, it's not though, is it?

That would be years of horrific strategic decision making, poor recruitment (staff and players) and, in the last few years, being ridiculously profligate with money.

Some fans getting a bit wound up because they think we should be doing better based on history etc, yeah, that would be right.

They've consistently competing towards the top end of the league for over a decade, had a (slim) chances of winning it a few times and have star players.

Add to that competing in Europe, getting to the final of the CL and having a world class stadium. They're currently a bigger club without a shadow of a doubt.

We sometimes get stuck in the memories of the 80s and earlier.
