He's struggling big time but im not naive enough to think his sacking changes much in the grand scheme of things.

I think we've all been a bit naive in thinking/hoping there was any chance he'd turn it around. Time to admit it

These missed games over the Christmas period has saved benitez in this job, potentially those two 6 pointers being postponed has either been a lifeline or missed opportunities for benitez to have us in a better position.

We know the club is boxed in here with him and have chosen to back him instead of sacking him.

But I have to go back to the board seeing this. Never mind the results , digne. Why are the board sitting there seeing benitez pushing our French international full back out the door and not questioning that logic? Why are they not questioning why we have just commited to a 17 million pound deal for a position we currently have 2 players for including the young lad and watched a promising academy one leave.

It's quite scary the club is doubling down on benitez of all people. Especially when the results are just not there to justify it. We have sacked better managers results wise.

He said Digne was uncommitted, but it sounded like he is not on the brink of being sold or that there is even any serious interest in him.

How long is his contract? 3 years? what kind of payout would he get for making us worse? 16mil?

If you can't see that he is responsible for this mess then you're a lot more naive than you think.

A few months ago you were posting constantly about how many trophies he won, how he was going to win us a cup, get us into Europe again, make us defensively solid.

Now you're rewriting history and pretending that you didn't actually believe any of that crap you wrote about him being a good manager and have only adamantly backed him out of some moral obligation you think you have to be his protector on the internet.

Which is fact - he isn't an awful manager, same as Carlo isnt, Silva/Koeman aren't.

They aint elite level (Carlo used to be) but they ain't awful.

The fact we constantly are in and around the bottom 6 suggests its more than just the manager.
