I love the way you know what I'm thinking and I love the way you're on here every night yet it's taken you over a week to think up a reply to my original post, go and play with the toys you got for Christmas.
That reply is typical form for you, when you are a beaten docket. I guess you agree with me so, but you just don't want to admit it.

Having had a look at the goal again, I’m not even sure they are purely zonal tbh. I mistakenly thought he started on the back post but he doesn’t. He appears to be man marking in a but if a hybrid system, full sequence below.
Either way it was shocking defending and shouldn’t need a a manager to micromanage a situation like that, nor do I believe he / they were told to behave that way

3 players on the near post covering 1 man and he still had a clear header ,that’s not tactics that’s players not switched on

Also 8 blue shirts against 4 green when do the players take responsibility

Maybe he trusts Rondon to make the right decisions in terms of movement and defensive shape. Even if he has 0 pace, if the ball is going to fall in the box in the last minute to either Rondon or Simms, I think most would trust Rondon.

If we are desperate for a goal and we’re punting the ball into the box, aerially Rondon will win more than Simms, for me. If we’re in front and hanging on to a lead, Rondon will physically hold on to the ball and bring others into play better than Simms.

He is limited but is the lesser of two evils, yes Simms is a wild card but that comes with challenges too.
In theory maybe, in practice I've seen sod all to back it up.

You are so full of s**t it's unreal.

But Benitez (and his coaching staff) have never done man to man marking in their career. They have always preferred zonal, many other top teams do too. When you choose Benitez as manager, you get a zonal system.

When you change from man to man to zonal, especially when many of these players have never used a zonal system before, it’s fair to say you’ll see some teething issues initially.
David Ancelotti used a Zonal marking system as well, so, we didn’t man mark from set pieces last year, we were just better Drilled by Carlo Ancelotti ‘s son. To try to make excuses for the Omni shambles Benitez has made of a solid defensive unit is laughable.
