He put more effort into this than he did into his defending.

He’s not going to City or PSG is he. Had his choice of Villa or Newcastle. Bottom half premier league player.

He had a very good first season with us but I just won’t miss him that much, he’s been a part of so many teams that I’ve absolutely despised watching as they’ve been so apathetic.

I just can’t bring myself to get moved by a player who honestly didn’t look like he was busting a gut the majority of the time he was here.

He was nowhere near Leighton Baines in his prime let’s be honest. Peak Digne was just about better than retiring Baines.

Agree 200% , not defending Rafael for handling this situation but also don’t believe one single word to any player when they start to show their love to the clubs and fans …. I saw him looking for his way out , decent player but nothing more then that.

Only looking for a way out because of the manager though. He literally signed a 5 year deal within the last year because he wanted to stay long term.

its amazing how a player giving a respectful goodbye to the fans , having been thrown out the first team by a manager who seems to win every once every 2 months , is someone criticised for it . The world is upside down .

...then when the 3 year contract is up we have a younger squad and have no FFP concerns as the rolling 3 year window is up.

If things continue as they are though i think he'll be binned off...Benitez needs to show improvement on past recent managers.

If he is to stay for 3 years we’ll be starting a new manager's tenure in the championship Zat.

You’re spot on, there’ll be more. Someone like this causes conflict everywhere they go. It’s always the other person’s fault though, they never have the insight to wonder if it’s something they’re doing or the way they’re communicating instructions/handling different opinions that’s the reason they’re endlessly falling out with people.

I'm not sure it's arrogance, I genuinely believe Benitez is on the spectrum of Autism. He rarely shows emotion, well, except that frankly odd smile he flicks when awkward questions are asked.
Nothing necessarily wrong with having a manager with emotional issues except they can be taken the wrong way, not fully understood and its been said that even the players don't know when they have done well as that emotion isn't in his skillset yet.....well either that or he's a bellwhiff with a massive ego that just isn't likeable to anyone other than his mother....and even she ain't that arsed he left his homeland at a young age ...Who knows ?

I’m starting to think with these transfers that he isn’t here long term. Bar the cheap signings or freebies he hasn’t spent a penny really on ‘his’ players, they all seem old targets or Moshiri specials.

Any ‘shake ups’ at the club may have already been on the cards such as Brands or the Medical team (poor performance would have been highlighted already). and Digne going was a good business move for the club.

I’m personally starting to think Moshiri brought him in to steady the ship for a season (which hasn’t worked) so they can have 12 months to re-assess. Moshiris thinking has always been from a business point of view rather than a football club.

Big fan of Digne...big fan of Doucoure...big fan of Allan.

If Digne going gets us Mykolenko (22) + Patterson (20) then its fine with me.

If we sold Allan this window and Doucoure in summer then brought in two players of the same profile as Mykolenko and Patterson then that would be fine with me as well.

Benitez needs to actively move out most of the squad now.

Sigurdsson, Kenny, Tosun, Delph all gone in summer when their contracts expire.

Rondon, Townsend, Coleman moved out in summer or the season after.

Mina, Davies, Keane, Holgate, Gomes, Gbamin, Iwobi, Allan need to be moved on this window and summer.

Thats 15 players we have a good chance to move on.

As long as we stay up then Benitez' fate will rest with getting players out of the door and signing high potential...

...that team and squad will attract a top manager. As will our warchest while Benitez does the dirty work.

He has to massively improve results.

But that all depends on who is in charge of finding the players. And if its benitez, then that is worrying.

As we potentially just end up with a load of his dross that only suit his system so the next manager is then hamstrung by it.

Its not so much the abysmal results. its his gameplans , stubbornness to admit we have issues and mainly to blame everything else apart from himself. Absolutely hateful person who will seriously damage this club big style if he stays on much longer.

Spot on , I’m a couple of years younger than you but in footballing terms he’s the worst thing I’ve lived through .
