Going out of his way to try to win favor is certainly not an example of affection for the club though, is it? It's self preservation knowing he has to do that extra work. It's was smart of him to do it though.

The fans were booing at the HT whistle and rightly so. He made some subtle changes which worked and he got his subs right against a team that is likely going down.

This is a big statement based on its week 1.
Everybody has played 1 game , 10 teams won, 10 lost.
This goes for us too...remember this time last season.
We had a good 2nd half, we play Leeds next who took a pasting, but the feeling is we'll have to up Our game to get something over there.

I keep saying this...
One game at a time.
Reasses Us, The League and our position...and everybody elses in it, after 10 league games / Spurs 7th Nov.*

(*This in no way stops me from ranting and fumin after a bad game or serious mistake - thats just football)
 
I don't think anybody is expecting miracles under Benitez this season. It does look as if transfer activity is dependent on sales and even then how much money will be available is in doubt.

There will be some who will criticise him for not performing miracles with the team but he will never, ever satisfy those people and their dissatifaction is based on his past connections rather than the job he does at Everton.

I like a manager who gets involves on the sideline and certainly the tempo is higher and the players are on a different plane compared to what we saw at the end of last season.

But, we have to wait and see how the season progresses, if the performances can mirror last Saturday and if we can sell and buy some players.

One Benitez crafted 2nd half swallow doesn't make a summer...just sayin like...but on the form of the last half of the season - (on field 11 and ex manager both) we probably would have lost that.

Edit; I know, I know, he set them up for the 1st half too

But he owned up and changed it for the better. Take that into account.

Thanks but it was love at 1st sight for me and Mrs J 41 years ago.Same as when I first saw Alan Ball play for us.I thought it was always supposed to be that way!!

You bet. For me the bit that I have seen, dare I say that it looks like we have a Manager who means business.
