…I don’t know why you’re so uptight about it. If he’s got an affinity to anybody, it’s the Reds as he was successful for them.

Even if you disagree, it’s only to be accepted that lots of fans are unhappy with his appointment, not just because he managed them but because he publicly belittled Everton when managing them. I’m in that category.

Not wanting Benitez as manager does not mean we ever want Everton to lose. I actually hope Benitez is very successful but it will never change my values that he shouldn’t have been given the job. You won’t change my mind, just like I won’t change your opinion of Michael Keane being an outstanding CB and Benitez being an Evertonian.
I always admit that I have no standing on this question, not having grown up there and taken crap from RS friends and family every day of my life.

but -

we talk about being ruthless when it comes time, say, to move on from a Barry, Baines, Jags, Coleman etc, they were great servants of the club but not good enough now, are we trying to be sentimental or are we trying to win football games and trophies-

couldn’t it be true going the other way? If the man who helps the club win games and trophies is hateful from an emotional and sentimental standpoint? Would a winning side with ruthless mentality care, or would they get the best man for the job and have at it?

that begs the (very big( question of whether he is the man for the job and he may well not be. His recent record, Newcastle/China, a point against. But the question I’m putting on the table from your post is - is it beyond redemption? Is there no level of success, no trophy, no expression of commitment to the club that would eradicate the stink?

All respect to your position, I won’t tell you you’re wrong if you say no. We’re not using actuarial tables to pick stocks for a portfolio, this is sport and we follow out of passion and it’s irrational. Why we should invest so much time and energy and money watching overpaid men we don’t know play a kids game, makes zero sense rationally anyway, so that ship has already sailed.

Lots have said that if he achieves certain things then they could come round to him. But some still throw that back at us and continue with the insults and baiting posts like we have seen today and yesterday. I've stopped engaging with them now because they dont listen to reason.

I'm not going to talk about him any more until he actually starts doing the things he needs to do (in my eyes) to earn the chance and respect. I've made my reasoned arguments since before we hired him but they just fall on deaf ears because apparently there's only one acceptable way of supporting the club and unless you go the match and clap him, you aren't a real fan.

Did you read the one on Twitter from EFC Statto, 3 second half goals, which is the same total we got in our previous 16 home league games.
Yeah I seen it earlier mate. Had to google it to check as didn’t believe it. Some shocking stuff last season, I’m still excited for this season despite the lack of transfers as I just can’t imagine watching us be as bad as we was since Christmas, worst I ever remember watching and that includes allardyce.

Thing is the lack of transfers isnt always a bad thing, we have a better squad then the impression Carlo gave us, but if we make too many additions you have to work them all in, which wont be easy. And then of course there is the money.
For me January is more important, let's judge this lot after a few months of organised football in front of fans.
