I don't have high expectations of Benitez that is my point.

I think he'll get us in to Europe if he's backed.

Can he get us competing with the top 4?

Dunno, but I think he's the manager we need even if he's the manager many people don't want.

He's got the players fit (except Rondon) and every single one of those players is in no doubt what he wants them to do when we play. Never felt they had any level of fitness or direction under Carlo.

Been a while since we've been in Europe. We need to get back then hopefully we'll be in a good financial position as we move to BMD and can try breaking in to the top 4.

I want to win the league and every managers objective should be win it by your 3rd season or at least be challenging. He will see us as a big pay day and then blame the fans when it falls apart and he leaves.
Football's not like that anymore. Breaking into the elite has never been harder due to the money in the game. There's nothing wrong with ambition but if it's not tempered by realism you end up changing manager every 18 months.

Could be a third loss in 4 for Bigtitez if we lose to Utd, and that win was against the dreadful Norwich who have to be favourites for the drop.

...and people complained about a drop of in Carlo's results after a good start. We were second at Christmas.

No, not really. It hasn't meant anything to club for more than 30 years so I can't relate to it anymore.

I agree in that it's highly unrealistic which is why I was hoping Silva would stick even when it was clear he was our of his depth. My point more is that Benitez will be happy to tick the days off until his retirement without particularly busting a gut like some managers would. He will happily hover where Moyes did for the majority of his time. People were largely sick of Moyes by the end but he had lost his fight to achieve at Everton as he knew he'd done enough to get United job. Dour football hut reasonable finishes isn't me. I'd rather a manager go for it and maybe not have as high average finish but when the stars align could possibly have us there. Benitez will not be this manager.

On the other hand, Benitez only needs to win one of his next three games to equal Ancelotti's total from the first 9 games of last season

Higher average finish will attract better players which will help climb up the table?

your point about Rafael being here just to get money till he retires is bizarre. He has shown more hardworking with the players than any of the previous managers. He is out there on the training pitch every day with the players, not just leaving it to his coaches. He is very hands on and you can see at the touch line when the team is playing he isn’t just going through the motions.

Carlo possibly was but Rafael most certainly not
