He's had a good start in the League and got us a very creditable point away at Old Traffic, especially with the squad issues we've been having
Can't really fault him right now, outside of the defeat in the League Cup which was more down to Begavic being mince than anything else, and it's not like Pickford was an option for that game either
Persisting with an obviously unfit Rondon when we do have Simms as an option is something you can perhaps raise an eyebrow at too, but it's not like we're rich with options due to our lack of squad depth and there's not much he can do about that, so again I think it would be unfair to really have a go at him for it
All I will say is that some of his biggest supporters on here are almost sycophantic about him to a certain degree and I can see that leading to tension when people have legitimate criticisms for him as the season roles on, because they're probably going to go full on Martinez Cult about it and it's going to get ugly on here
I think you've got that arse about face. I dont see much sycophancy over Benitez; most people are handing him the chance he needs to establish himself. The real energy in this 'debate' is from those who - regardless of performance and results - will continue to vilify Benitez...and in the most disgusting of ways.

These people are bankrupt...and they know it.

There is indeed. That post was aimed for the more rabid of pro Benitez posters.lol

Thanks for this mate. Findings presented last night identified the scale of the problem for those posters suffering with 'obsessive Benitez love disorder'. Further updates will be made available in the Make Everton Great Again situation room as they come in. Stay vigilant. ?

Absolutely sickening to see so many "blues" jizzing over the fat Spanish waiter.

You're the "fans" that allow the "small club" tag to stick.
I can only speak for myself but I rather enjoyed the performance, the team spirit, the way we were set up and the point. And the only person I'll be jizzing over is Mrs BlueInNZ. Hope that doesn't sicken you too much.

I love how we don't fear teams parking g the bus anymore. We will give you the ball and let you have it if necessary and until you have to eventually pass up the pitch then we blitz you.

Love how from game one Benitez has been able to get these to do it and do it well. Really sets them up with believe from the off. And dare I say it its making me a bit more confident we may finish higher than last season. Not that we have a god given right to.

We have more points than this many games played last year. Yet last year we took over the net. Getting number one on iTunes. Trending all over twitter. It was like a mass orgy in here. Pandemonium. 'Take my wife Carlo'

1 point better of... 'doing OK' 'doing what's expected', 'stop over praising the manager'.

Then again 435 people to 30 odd people. They are just a small few screaming loud at the clouds with very high output..

Its not representative of us.
This is a good point, ex-mate!

Maybe what we are missing, the thing that might bring back the universal highs of the first half of last season is a hit single topping the pop charts.

With a bit of planning, I think the manager can do it.?

With the squad he inherited, the expectation must have been very low from the board, especially with the remit that he must offload James and be unable to spend real money to fill in certain gaps in the squad. Honestly think he was told he's just to steady the ship until January or next summer when, providing we are able to offload more players, he'll have the chance to bring in some new faces. If he can have us there or thereabouts by January, ie within touching distance of the 5/6 place, then the season expectation can hopefully reassessed providing funds are made available for him.

A decent draw at Old Trafford, no doubt about that. But some of the pro Benitez cheerleaders are really overselling it. I mean like, some people are celebrating a draw as if it was a win. A draw against a United team, managed by the managerial maestro that is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at that. So settle down there now kids, and stop jizzing yourselves. It's a decent start to the season but it's how you finish, not how you start that counts.
Its also how you play the game, and in comparison to much of what we've seen, going way back, it feels as good as a win.
