100% agree it's one of the few reasons I like Cristina Kirchner as she has put some manners on the Clarín group who had controlled the media in Argentina like Murdoch does in much of the World. But her media has proven equally and possibly worse in the propaganda stakes
So in Argentina we have two sets of lies instead of one.
But one thing positive is the club's are all member owned which makes it more competitive but without the sugar daddies to buy superstars

Good post mate.

It is all lies*

That's how it used to be here. People bang on about the EPL being so good, but I find it turgid and predictable. Most teams used to have a hero, hewn out of local granite, who would tear about all match. British teams USED to put fear into other nationals with their unique physical blend of pace, strength and speed. Now we see delicate tippy tappy mercenary superstars diving, feigning injury, waving imaginary cards, cheating and kissing badges, before moving onto the next paycheque.

I really hope and expect that Funes Mori will be one of the ones who isn't like this - because our club doesn't tend to attract or sign those.

In the old days, people built squads over years of careful management if they were to be successful. you'd select players who could play skillfull football on a good pitch in the summer, but equally mix it up in a mudbath in the winter. Today the pitches are near on perfect all year 'round, so we've lost that variety and entertainment. A nothing team from nowhere can be bigged up for dollars by the sugar daddy - and without any of the football related graft, planning and sustained growth, can suddenly buy titles.

It's exactly what happened recently in women's football. For years it was between Everton and Arsenal (previously Doncaster) - who established the sport. Then it became pro and suddenly those nomark teams who had shown precisely zero interest in the sport became big players. The red lot, who were laughably bad, Citteh and Chelski more or less bought Everton ladies and now bang the drum about how brilliant they are. The media are clammering for Man Utd to get a woman's team - beacause, horror of horrors, the BEST womens teams HAVE to come from their darling clubs, or the sky will fall in.

Football is just becoming so damn tedious and predictable because of the sugar daddy, and tramples all over tradition and earned history.

Where's my pitchfork? Time for a revolution!

Brilliant You just made the statement for the huge majority of real football fans everywhere not the consumers.I am ready to join your REVOLUCION will need a Che

From all interviews etc so far it sounds like he's got his head screwed on and is determined. I like it, nice little cameo against Chelsea too he did well.

An interesting link to show why Funes Morí left River and why some day probably return. Most of these 144 ex River players would have come through the underage structure.River itself has about 35 full pro players so we can say there are about 180 professional players in the World from our school.

Funes Mori became the most expensive defender in Everton’s history when completing a protracted £9.5million move from River Plate shortly before this month’s transfer deadline. But he has shrugged off the prospect of being weighed down by his hefty price tag. “I’m not worried about that,” said the Funes Mori, who can also play left-back. “I know the club made a big effort for me to come here, so I hope to sweat every pound they paid for me. “Speaking to Roberto (Martinez) after negotiations gave me a lot of confidence to come here and, like I say, work hard. “I need to keep working hard and keep improving as a player and a person, and do good for Everton.”

Funes Mori added: “I spoke to some of my team-mates at River Plate, but I watched the league all the time in Argentina because I am a big fan of the Premier League. “I watched all the games and so I knew where I was going to come to and Everton had the confidence to bring me here and they have made a big effort to get me. “That showed the club was confident in me so I hope I do my best for Everton, work hard every day and keep winning games.”

While born in Argentina, Funes Mori and his family emigrated to the United States in 2001, where he was briefly on the books of MLS side FC Dallas before moving back to his homeland with River Plate. “They are different types of culture,” he added. “The United States is different to Argentina see the adaptation was hard initially for me and my family. “It will help me settle in here, though, I think. “The people in England and America are similar so that’s why I didn’t think twice about coming here because I know I can adapt. I wanted to come.”

looks to have a well rounded skill set already, so if he puts in half the shift that Stracq put in then he'll be worth the price tag no problem

Agree on this but i just cant see him getting a lot of starts. We wont be dropping Stones anytime soon, and Jags is as important to Stones development as Stones is himself, so not sure where this leaves Mori. I wonder if Martinez is going to try and hang onto leads a lot more this season than he has in the past and use him later in the game to strengthen to defense.
I reckon he might start VS Reading for certain and rest Stones

It is unfortunately unlikely that both Jags and Stones will remain injury free for an entire season. Stones has been wearing some strapping on one leg so in particular might benefit from a rest.
