Glad to see wiser heads prevail in this thread. While he made a mistake attempting to bring the ball out it was because his touch forwards was a bit heavy and I'm sure he will cut those out when he gets up to speed with a few more matches.
The responsibility for that goal is all on Barry for me. Being as experienced as he is and under no pressure you don't expect to see him give away the ball while under no pressure at all.

thought he did alright tonight ! you got to remember he hasnt settled yet he knows bobby likes us to play out from the back and probably overplayed it trying to impress ! but thought barry, jags and browning could of done better to ! apart from that didnt do anything wrong !

It's a cliché, but this league is a different level and you will get punished if you're not disciplined.
Tonight was probably a good game for him to start. A tough side away from home, he made a mistake but it didn't cost us the game in the end, he will be pleased with the win and will hopefully learn and get better.

I think that's a little harsh, though I know where you're coming from.
I think we're all a bit anxious about him, particularly given the commentary surrounding his transfer. I could feel myself projecting that anxiety onto his performance, but it really wasn't bad at all. He's never played a Pulis side before. Decent enough showing, I think.
Mori has to bear a lot of the blame. There's no harm in saying it, the lad did well to get himself back in the game and play well, much like our Belgian striker who we can't criticize anymore.
Monster in the air.
Almost impossible to step seamlessly into an established centre-half pairing though. Look at City against Tottenham, they weren't two terrible centre-halves, but a lack of familiarity can make good players look cack.

So in 5 years, exactly how many games did Distin cost us eh? I can think of one obvious one, beyond that....the good things Distin did outweighed the bad about 99 to 1.
I know mate - I just don't want him in defence for the derby. Not going to make a judgement on him in the long term; I just don't want him in our defence until he's more comfortable here.
