I agree with most of that, BT, just not the first bit. I know what I saw.

Fair enough mate. I think there was slight contact, but like @Jacko93 has said, if we got that awarded against us we'd be fuming. Football's a contact sport, and in this league especially, defenders need to be strong when challenging for the ball.

There were no complaints from Mori or anyone else, either, so I don't think they believed it was a foul. He tends to just miss-time his jumps slightly, and in this league you're usually punished for it.

But i'm not knocking the lad at all. Thought he had a superb game and I'm delighted at the start he's made.

Give that kopite Carroll a proper beating next weekend and i'll have him firmly locked in my little locket together with pictures of Naismith and Koné. In recess i go sneaking off to look at them at a secluded place and sigh to myself, oh what dream boats.

Had a decent game. Coming alone better than expected. Was expecting an overpriced £5m centre back, looks like we're getting a £10m centre back that lives up to his price tag.

Funnily enough I thought the worst part of his game yesterday was his aerial one. He was beaten by Fletcher for the 2nd goal and even Defoe managed to get the better of him at one point.

Generally though he played well. I think he's unpolished in some ways but his ability and potential is there to see. So far, so good.

Don't you mean best instead of worst ?
The fletcher goal was just one of them things, it happens from time to time, it is so hard to get a decent jump when your going backwards, I thought every time they tried to hit us on the break either on the deck or in the air, he was brilliant.

I think form crosses he often miss-times his jumps/gets caught under the ball. He's not bad in the air, but probably his positioning is the only thing that lets him down in that department.

I agree though. Long balls forward he deals with really well, and he is actually really quick over the first five yards - pretty much gets him to everything first.

I agree he isn't 100% complete player yet, I think a football writer/scout/analyst said positioning could be questioned in his River Plate days.
I love the fact he doesn't always play the ball, he will clear his lines when needed, something Stones should of done for the defoe goal.
My point with the fletcher goal is that from experience its harder to out jump the attacker going backwards, when he has the momentum jumping forward if that makes sense. From a analytical point of view the cross should of been stopped from coming in. I think MOTD highlighted the same thing last night.

Yeh I agree mate. Like I said I've been really impressed by him so far. But there's times when he does look a little lost in our penalty area when crosses are coming in - but then again so do Jags and Stones!

The easy answer is yeh, get out to crosses and stop them at source, but for some reason we sit deep and don't do that. So I think it's something he'll have to get used to, and I think he will as well, given time.

That was kind of my point; it's been his strength (aerial presence) but I thought he had a few moments where it deserted him yesterday.

Maybe they need to put him up against Big Dunc in training a bit more to ruffle his feathers and toughen him up - I can imagine that after a few of those sessions he will be well hardened and will be well prepped for any Fletchers, Carrolls, Girouds...et al he might come up against

From what I've seen so far, he's a quality defender that I think will be a mainstay in our back 4 for many years. He still needs some time to fully adjust to the premier league and improve his own abilities, but it will come. This kid is the real deal in my opinion.

I am a bit wooried about Andy Carroll this weekend. That's no hate on Mori, I'd be worried if it was Jags and Stones too.

We just can't defend crosses, especially with Howard in nets.

Hopefully Bilic will drop him as he was crap against Watford.
